Yeah bro, ‘tis I... thanks, and same to you obviously! Hopefully we can stay up this end and chase these top teams down!
Yeah I thought I was in trouble when Murray & Brown went down, but the other 2 reserves certainly stood tall.
Honestly I have no idea what to do now, wasn’t really taking it very serious until now, and seeing that ranking makes me dizzy and not able to Form any real plan haha? I will probably get Lolo in though as he is as cheap as he will ever be, trading Kenner and Griffen to do so. You are getting Smith this week right?
I’m trying to work out when and how to save some trades for the bye rounds, as they look like they are going to be very messy this season...
Yeah I was super reluctant to get Maloney, but really glad I did as he is making some sweet sweet cash haha
Good stuff. Yeah Im getting Smith. Feels like a good move to add points to my starting 17 and the timing is right (BE of 21 and undervalued by $50k or so I think).
I've just had a quick look at your team and as long as Murray and/or Brown are back you are in good shape (I don't think I'd want to be playing Issako and Maloney again).
I think Tolo is the obvious guy to get in. Griffin and Kennar out makes sense too. Like me I'd say that adds 25 points to your weekly total!
In terms of long term planning - there's so much that changes each week that I wouldn't get too worried about it. That being said, I think the best way is to look at your team, circle the keepers and then figure out who else you want in your final squad, then try and figure out how and when you get them. I have a spreadsheet which I use to basically figure out if I'm gonna have enough money (and trades) to get my final squad together. My first priority is maximising my 17. Then it's about getting an 18th then 19th man, and at the same time where appropriate I'll build in a small bye plan (but I think this year I'll probably only use 3-4 trades mucking around with that).
So, for example, after this weeks trades if Mannering starts at lock he will be a buy for me either next week or the week after (thats when I project he will bottom out in price and be a good value pickup). Probably as an upgrade for Kikau, RFM, or Merrin.
I'll be looking at Gutherson closely over the next few weeks cause I think he could be a good C upgrade. Not a priority cause theres not really value there, and also C is the last thing I want to tamper with. But a good fantasy FB scoring at C seems like it should work out well (add 5-10 points to my score per week) and thats really my only other weak position in my 17 right now.
Also like the look of Mbye as a back up half, particularly given his price is bottoming out. But he doesn't add to my weekly score so is not such a priority. I'll probably add Munster in after 17 as well so I have two DPP guys I can switch around and use as half/wfb cover.
The other obvious guy I don't have is JTrbo, but thinking I'll wait till post Origin to get him now.
After that its gonna have to be based on form and price at the time, but I'll probably need to fill a couple spots with: Hess, Brown, Harris, Chrichton, Surgess, Vaughan, and McGuire. But with so many other things to deal with these can all wait. I'll probably double trade at a couple positions with these guys for the byes. I.e. Hess in for 13, then Harris for 17 and then the rest of the season. But so much can happen between now and then so theres no point planning with too much detail that far out.
That's basically the way I play it. I put in a decent amount of time each week into planning. The irony is each week that plan inevitably changes due to unforeseen circumstances. I enjoy it though.Like crunching numbers and tend to go quite well in this format (as opposed to NRLF which Im pretty average at!)
Good luck with your team mate. Hopefully the above helps a little bit.
