Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 20
Need some advice lads. I have been thinking the last couple of days - Is it worth it to keep Katoa in my EMG, I mean he is due back in RD 6, plays RD 13 and had lots of raps on him pre-season. I can trade to JMK to make some money but is it worth saving the trade and leaving Katoa in there?

Rapture_NRL wrote:@StormTrooper96 that's a hard one. I'm a believer in not trading if it's not obvious who to choose. I was going to offload Dufty as he isn't as involved as I'd like (last game aside). I like Alvaro and he's doing better than my gun Nathan Brown...
Its funny how a week can change things aye. Dusty was pretty close to being on my short list of guys to trade out after watching his first couple of weeks - but then last week happened and now he's all the rage and heaps of people are wanting to trade him in. It kind reinforces why I tried to self impose a rule of not mucking around with the C/WFB spot unless there is something absolutely obvious.

You have Murray already presumably?
With that kind of money I'd be more inclined to go after value still. It's not quite the balance needed to get a set and forget gun. I still need to put a bit of time into finding out who is still value. JMK maybe? Rochow? then bank the rest for an upgrade next week if it makes sense given your team make up?
Cheers mate

I don't see the point in trading him out now - 3 rounds ago yes, but he's so close to being back and he is so cheap, I don't see the value in ditching him now.

Absolutely no point. Still loophole potential and possibility of Rd 13 is gold dust

Thanks Rippin. Always good to get the boys opinion on whatever is going on in my head. It's like you need that extra 1 or 2 peoples opinion just for reassurance. I can always count on the fanatics!

His first game was with a poor sharks team in a very sloppy match up here in Townsville. He'll come good.
Still 32% ownership

@Rippin and Tearing I know right! He saved me in my H2H so he gets a stay of execution haha But I like your philosophy and will look to shore up 2RF, Hookers, FRF, Halves, CTR/WFB in that order

What!?!? That high. I got rid of him straight away for Thompson I was hoping he’d come back around round 8 or 9 perfect time to milk a cow.
Mind you Holmes might be rookie price by then. If he gets to under 300k I will consider him for backup

Feels very sideways to bump him but 40 minutes is a worry. Maybe it was just a one off. So hard to tell with him. He did play 56 mins in round two, but that score was saved by a try.
Trading Merrin leaves me with plenty of options but all may just end up scoring the same as Merrin anyway. I can't afford to move him to a real gun without downgrading elsewhere. ARGH
Also, absolute massive thank you to those who have tipped a few bucks my way. Bloody legends.
His minutes have been down in all 3 games and last week was just a ridiculous, mind-boggling decision from Griffin to play him for so little minutes. I don't think I can keep putting up with it because it's literally all on Griffin because Merrin has actually played well when on the field.

Have you guys (and girls) got a plan of what your final 17 will look like?
I was messing around with this earlier and worked out that I'll be a few trades short and will have absolute garbage in my centres

Was going to trade Merrin before R13 anyway.

I have Ponga, Jurbo, Smith, Cook, DCE, Murray in my team at the moment who I think/hope will be there for the final 17. Players like Mitchell, TPJ, Kikau, Arrow maybe even Lodge could also possibly be final 17 worthy if they can average around 50 points (40 for Mitchell). That means I have 6 players in my team now who are set and forget and possibly 1 or 2 others that could join that group. So ultimately I am looking at 10 spots that need to be filled. I will most likely be double trading a fair few of my mid rangers/cows to get those guns in, so probably about 20 trades?
Players I would love to see in my final 17
Hooker - Filled
FRF - Fifita, Vaughn, Taupau, Surgess (if he gets DPP)
2RF - Jurbo, Lolo, Crichton, Guerra
Halves - DCE, Cleary, SJ
CTR - Gagai, Roberts
WFB - RTS, Ponga, Teddy, Turbo, Edwards, Cwalker, Rapa
Lots of work to do, waiting for the right time to milk my cows.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 20
bit early for that in rnd 4. this year will be interesting because so many teams will have a final 17 comprised of second bye round players which may not be the best players overall.Verbal Kint wrote:Have you guys (and girls) got a plan of what your final 17 will look like?

it could even work out better if you choose to save a trade/keep an origin player who avgs higher than a bye round player over the final 9 rounds of the season.

If he is then I'd say Arrow to lock. When I watch Carty I expect him to change pace when he runs the ball but he seems to only have 1 pace which is slow pace.
