i can't see Farah playing 80 when Cleary needs to find playing time for Marshall, Brooks & Reynolds

Even if he was to play 80. Which he wont mind you he would still not even be in the top 5 hookers on offer.
If you are still chasing cash at this point of the season you are cooked and should start worrying about next year.
This post basically articulates what I was thinking....

I guess for teams that are cash strapped, and don't already have Cook, McInnes, and Cam, then Farah could be worth the gamble. I personally would want to see what role Cleary gives him first.
That surely is the sticking point! If he doesn't get 80 week by week then he surely is not worth bringing in....right?

I don't need Farah but would be a great 18th man, his only a 40k upgrade from isaako. Means I have no center depth and that makes me nervous with Mr glass dugan, guess I could always trade Katoa sideways and bring in Holland for cover

The last time you said something was cooked, they went on to win 6 in a row. Ahem... up the mighty Sharks !!

Sub $600k for a fringe keeper at worst is extremely tempting for anyone, doesn't matter if he isn't in your top 5 Hookers in Fantasy.. He is a 40-60 point player.
I'll sit back this week and watch him, then make the call for round 18. Not many players go to a new club and plays 80 minutes the first week. I have Friend sitting there, asking to be straight traded if he looks the goods.

Farah's last season averages at the Tigers (oldest to newest) 64, 66, 54
In 2016 before Taylor put his foot down he was averaging 53.
His 2 games this year he's score 61 and 64.
Possibly there are a few teams out there that are flush with cash and/or already have the best possible 17 assembled.
For everyone else, you should bring Farah in.

Farah isn't going to be the golden goose, but shit, for bugger all I can upgrade hiku as an 18th man to Farah. That helps me sleep at night.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 55
Few interesting points on Farah so I'll throw my 2 cents in.
Whether he plays 60 minutes or 80 minutes is irrelevant to me. His role is what I am interested in. When he was in his fantasy prime Farah spent a lot of time defending around the ruck as A defender or marker. This meant he had a huge tackle base on top of the occasional attack stats he would bring making him a genuine keeper. In his final season at the Tigers he started defending a little wider (a lot of the time as C defender) which lowered his base stats, making him more reliant on attacking stats which naturally drove his average down as these can dry up. In his two games this year at the Rabbitohs he was back defending in the middle giving him those reliable base stats to go with the occasional attacking stats making his score at keeper level. If he can keep this up at the Tigers even 60 minutes will see him post 50 odd scores which will be keeper levels for a bench player. If he is defending wider, the threat of 1 from Marshall, Reynolds, Liddle on the bench to poach his minutes becomes very real and he likely only scores in the 40s.
TL;DR I'm going to sit tight and wait a week to see how he plays.

Farah has a break even of 7. If he scores 50 you'll be paying an extra 50k

I don't think Farah will hurt anyone with a full 17 but for someone like me ~1500 and struggling for a solid 16/17/18th player he is a godsend. I'm sure everyone else I'm competing with for the top 1k will be grabbing him also

Yeah, that's why I am surprised people are talking about waiting a week.

I think I'll risk paying the extra 50/60k (Milch's BEs have him at 14, Mtvb has 7) especially given he plays only one of the next two games. (If Martin stays out of 17 might pull the trigger early. But if Martin plays for next two weeks his combined scoring and price rises should at least match Farah before Rnd 18 trade.)

I might take a punt on Nene Macdonald as my Fonua replacement. The Dragons monster could have a field day against the Eels.

Not worried about downward trend possibility or chance he won’t get 80. I’m still
Not certain he’s the sure thing people appear to be suggesting! It would b an entirely different proposition if it were round 6 not 16 of course.

This is another problem with Farah. Unless you have enough trades to cover injuries weekly, then adding Farah, means likely adding a 4th hooker, meaning most teams will not be able to cover every position for an injury or if they can cover, the quality of that cover will likely be questionable.
Its gonna be very interesting to see how he goes, and particularly how many people take the punt on him prior to knowing what his role will be. I'd be inclined to take the $50k hit and see how he goes in that first week....
