I need to come up with a different strategy next year I think. Four years and I always hover around that 500, and this year my best at 441. Not sure what I'm not doing to not be able to take that next step.

Not updating the scores still from Friday is unbelievable. Especially when I captained Smith and own Cleary and Marsters. Pfft!

tough doing that well consistently don't knock it mate
involves a huge amount of luck
A strong start will help picking the right guns who start the season on fire with the right cows and mid rangers elevating

Who's down voting Foina? You pricks have demonised her all year but she still shows up to give you the season rap up and that's what she gets for her effort?

Starting with Aitken and Walker was a huge help I reckon.
But being unable to cut the cord and get Mitchell and Turbo for instance really held me back

Just try & make money as fast as you can by just trading in the most profitable cash cows for the first 6-7 rounds. Then with your profit just trade in guns up until the bye rounds start. So once the bye rounds start you are hopefully in a decent position rank wise & then try to push on.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 69
I think this year showed a changing in game strategy. With 4 less players in your starting squad there is absolutely no room for error. You have to nail the starting squad to be any chance. With only two real bye rounds it is significantly less important than previous years. Early traders don't get punished as bad during the byes as previous years. As always I was stung by playing conservative with players that score high through attacking stats. I prefer to base my team around base stats so missed the likes of Kikau and Taupau. Starting with 3 premium WFBs definitely cost me as the likes of Isaako, Thompson, Fonua all scored very well and made a chunk of cash without me

Injuries definitely didn't hurt as much at the back end of the year imo either, because it presented the option to loop/etc.
Ranked subs and all that meant that copping a really poor score was far less likely.
I suppose it helped that a couple of late cheapies like Holland and Lewis came along, Fainu as well. Even Mann had a couple of good scores in the last two weeks.
Speaking of Mann, I finally got to loop in the last round of the season. Took Manns 51 (instead of playing Holland). Netted me an extra 4 pts

Yeah I think with reduced squad size it paid to get rid of injured players instead of holding even if it meant burning a trade to get them back in.

I also started too conservative in the WFB and CTR positions, I was annoyed that some of the commonly owned players like Hiku did well. I regret starting with GI-Jayne, I was expecting them to score better after a few rounds, but it took 2/3rds of the season for GI-Jayne to show some force.
The premature trade-out of Havilii before round 8 kick-off was another one of my regrettable moves.
Some of my better picks in round 1 were RFM, Kikau and Harris.
