The things you do when you don't have a consummate professional like Andrew Gee managing the books.

Can only assume the Broncos wanted immediate cap space for 2019, and the Cowboys only wanted a 1 year option (perhaps had their eyes on Holmes back then). Not necessarily a bad decision. Perhaps better than having to pay for eg half his salary for 2 years without him playing for us (assuming Cows paid all his salary in 2019).

Imagine being about to earn 1mil a year and then be a fucking idiot.
To be fair that's me all over. I fucking hate the Broncos but fuck man these are kids who are fucking up. You give me $20 when I'm 19 for free and I'm a dick head. That's without having a chisled body. Can we really blame these kids?

Has the integrity unit been mentioned ? Have only seen a snippet of this that the likely outcome as is the way in Indonesia, is that he's paid the guy off.

The NRLs response will be interesting as they basically said Nelson’s assault was ok as he was defending a team mate from an unprovoked attack. Here we have the player doing the unprovoked attack, dog shotting a security guard

I haven't really followed closely but the story is pretty weird. Supposedly hit a guy while on the back of a bike? Then the driver of the bike 'stopped' Fifita from escalating it further? Strange tbh. It takes 4 blokes to tackle him. If Fifita wanted to punch on, I'd expect we'd see NAS'esque vision..
Anyway, brown paper bag to the rescue.

What about the white thongs, that's an extra weeks suspension right there.

So talk is 3mill over 4 years, so $750k a year. With Haas on just under 600k pa over 6 years, it's some power in the pack. But gee, that's a fair overpayment for Fifita given what Haas did in his rookie year. If I'm Payne I'm a little non pluses and being valued at more than $150k less than Fifita.
Also, out of interest, IF the Broncos paid the 30k (maybe they didn't, maybe Fifita did himself), I assume that gets added to the salary cap? Will be interesting to see what Fifita fine and suspension ends up being. A costly little punch from the young lad.

How would they count bali police corruption to the salary cap haha
Supposedly Fifita paid it himself though. Probably not as easy as it sounds? Getting 30k transferred to some bali cops probably takes a few days, is that why he spent 3 days in jail? Maybe they used Crypto

Broncos pay it because they have $30K disposable on hand. Fifita get paid $2.5K less a month. So yeah it's in the cap as a one off to D.Fifita. Would have been cheaper to punch cones.

If those figures are correct (and lets be honest, we can't rely on media reports), then Fifita isn't an overpayment at all. Haas' value is well on the way to being the steal of the century, but Fifita is still easily worth that amount, probably more.

Any bruises to show on the Indonesian David Boon? Surely if if a 110kg professional athlete punched a fat 5 foot 2 Tasmanian with the flared pants, there should be some marks on him???? Or is it possible this is a bit of an exaggeration? If not, yeah give him 12 weeks.

Haas needs a new manger signing that long on that amount is very poor negotiating. 2 years yes 6 no way. I think there will be contract dramas down the line if he is really on that deal.
Fifita should get 4 mil over 4 years. That broncos offer is way unders. If he signs that I’d be guessing there are some brown paper bag payments coming his way from the thoroughbreds

'if a team doesn't pay a player what i've arbitrarily decided he's worth, then they're cheating"
I've been on the 'give him a blank cheque' train, but if it got up to a million per, it'd leave a bad taste in my mouth, mill+ contracts should be reserved for high-level playmakers and the upper-upper-echelon of forwards, if Taumalolo and Klemmer are only just getting that amount with their resumes, no other forwards should come close.
not to mention the kid literally just got done proving he's got more fashion sense than brains (and he's got no fashion sense), and you want him to be given more money than he could ever responsibly spend? fair enough...

Both the Haas & Fifita deals are about right. Agree Haas is too long. Realistically for Fifita if after 3 years he's still killing it, he would have made $1M with the added rep payments and the Broncos up the last year as part of the new offer to extend. It's that upgrade potential on such a long contract that will hurt Haas and probably see him walk after a couple of years.

Money isn't #1 to everyone. Certainly isn't to me. These kids are literally, just kids, lovin life, playing footy. The Broncos will look after them. Why wouldn't they sign those deals. It will only be the agents who stir up trouble re money down the track.
They'll both play origin and international footy, another 100k+ per year. 3rd party agreement potential is huge down the track.
