Not in a rush for him anyway given he’s priced close to that now. I’d be disappointed I guess if he averaged that after doing so well before I got him. Sounds like you know a bit about disappointment Wink

He does seem like too much of an angry ant to settle at an average of 45 though so it’s a moo point cow

As a raiders fan, Liverpool fan and brumbies fan, it’s fair to say I’ve disappointed before.

Everyone will have Bateman and Nikora soon enough. Personally couldn’t say no after rd 1.

I feel you, I am a Warriors, Liverpool and Vikings fan. Crusaders go alright though.

In light of Burns 6 weeks potentially, any issue with these trades?

    Croft+Burns > Cartwright+Bateman

Croft 33 with try and try save is enough warning for me to hit eject button for Bateman money

Re Tedesco - we've seen him struggle, or at least not be quite himself in the wet and we've seen the SCG be a horrible pitch. we are meant to get some (not a lot but some) more rain today in Sydney. scares me off him a little bit. He's a very instinctive player and post 2 ACL reco's I think the soft SCG makes him play a touch more conservatively

I'm currently picking between him and Bateman. Tedesco probably makes more sense for my team but I'm thinking I might wait a week and go ponga instead of Tedesco for now to see how he goes on the SCG going forward.

Bateman on the other hand has his first Townsville game. Will the heat and humidity hurt him much? He seems like a bit of a machine

    I know I said I was going with my gut for all decisions this year but I do feel the need to ask for an opinion here and not ashamed to do so.  Here's my squad;

    Macca
    Fifita Taupau
    Murray Bateman Arrow
    Morgan Keighan
    Nikora Bird
    Sivo CNK Edwards

    Garner Capewell Mahoney Lawrie

    Rava Morris Brown Burns

64K.  Obviously I need a half.  I can do Morris and Burns to Carty and Rein with 1K spare.  I would love to keep Burns and even Morris as a backup but obviously can't move Keighan or Brown which is not ideal.  Leaving 1K is that having too many mid range options later on.  The other thing I'm thinking is skipping the Carty party and trading Macca for Ponga. I think after the article about Peats/Rein from the coach, Rein is a must have. Am I missing anything?  Cheers.

Cap'n Ranta wrote:I know PODs are a big deal at the start of the season but hang with me as I advertise someone most have given up on. And I think its a mistake.

Dylan Edwards is a good POD at this point. I mean he has been awful in 2/3 games and par in another but he has always played hard and tried to be involved. When the panthers start firing he will be a big part of it. Give him a slightly dry game and I'm sure he will improve. Low scores can happen with good wfb (see Tedesco rd1, RTS rd2). Also he plays Rd 12 before you trade him to one of the big 3 keepers (TTurbo, Tedesco, Ponga).

    Worst Case:
If he averages 35 from here he drops < 20k.

    Best case:
Exactly who we thought he was at the start of season. Puts on approx. 200k. Even better for those that didn't start with him and can wait till he bottoms out and shows a good score.

If at the start of the season Edwards was priced at 476k (34 avg) I would have jumped on for sure. Don't think anything has changed about why I bought him in so I'll stick with him. Anyone else riding with Edwards or is the mood more Deadwards in here?

I'm stubbornly riding with Edwards till atleast round 12

Pretty cool here in the afternoons at the moment. Humidity is slowly dying, should be a ripper surface and a ripper game.

Why don’t you go Bateman this week, Tedesco next and Ponga the week after? Ponga can wait another 2 weeks and still lose money or stay on pay

Don't have him, and generally agree, but I can imagine he may not get many more chances under new coach Cleary, with Aekins and DWZ as great replacements that would already be starting fullbacks at many clubs.
I haven't seen enough of Aekins to make a judgement on him but if you ignore last week Edwards is a way better fullback than DWZ. He gets at least one more week to repay my faith.

Trading Edwards? What a luxury!! I'm holding him, I've got other priorities, and will have other priorities next week as well.

I'm not too worried about him. Trading him out now won't get rid of the poor scores from previous weeks, and I do think that he will bounce back. Last weeks game was that fucking bad, that you could kind of expect a big turnaround in form this weekend. Three games, three wet tracks. Almost every fullback has put up bad scores in poor weather this season. Unfortunately, some showers predicted for Friday at Penrith Evil or Very Mad but hopefully they don't eventuate.

And the 100k he's lost is gone if you sell now

Yeah Edwards has to come good at some point. If I didn't have 33 other players to deal with I would have traded him lol

    Anybody trading Napa in?

Good to know! And I agree on your suggested order below. Going Bateman first makes sense to me despite having to play rava

If I can afford both Ponga and Tedesco than that will be the plan. Ponga likely for my halves

Yeah. Gains and losses only matter at the point they're realised. Could easily earn it back come season end
