Great win the pending premiers. Good, gutsy stuff against a good team who played their guts out. Lots of mistakes, but a high intensity game. The Panthers will sneak into the 8. Kikau is a beast. 6 wins from 7 to the Rabbits. I’ll take it.

Well, JFH was a little underwhelming, but I sort of expected that against Souths. He had 38 a few weeks back as well and I knew that. I certainly did my research. He tries too hard against the better teams, but you can’t deny his work rate....it’s his MTs and mistake rate that fucks him. He hits hard out of the line and first up, then falls off, but the runner is stopped. He’s not a flopper. He’ll average 53 for the year and play 12. Plus he’s durable.

@mattnz If you’d have said that he made mistakes you’d have a point, but the ENTIRE basis of your argument was minutes played. And he just played 80 again. 7 weeks running. So you’re wrong there. He’ll be up and down in points, but he’s a keeper reserve. As for Aekin, I was spruking him up three weeks ago, as I have done a few times this year. I said Edwards would be dropped and got bagged, but I was right. You had a little dig for bringing in JFH because you said he was overvalued.....yet you bring in a rookie priced at almost $600k, who didn’t hit his BE, so I’ll look at him for a few more weeks, after I’ve done my research  Laughing

I’m up at 3am, so c ya’s. Up the Bunnies.

We'll see JFHs actual planned minutes when Sele returns from the dog box and he has a replacement available on the bench. He was due to play 62 minutes the last time that happened, before the Yeo injury occurred.

Aekins did everything required of him. 38 points in base, great start and has now got an average of 49 in 2 games in first grade, without scoring tries or getting try assists, averaging over 260 running meters. Great stats for any fullback.

I feel I'm have a real rough week but I'm climbing the rankings, are the scores overall way down this week? I'm sitting at 298 live rankings. I don't know what to do with myself.

Popular players have generally scored lower and some will have very few players from their 17 that have played. I have only had 1 of my 17 play for scoring so far, (another 3 from EMG).

Having easily my worst scoring round, with some pretty popular players and despite having Ted. 415/8(c). Thanks Wayne Bennett for killing Captain Cook.

I'm at 508/9(c) which I feel is well under what people will be throwing up. Although I've got some gun players to come.

As a Cleary sufferer since rd1 40 over 39 certainly makes me happy as a floor score. Certainly hasn't lived up to the 60ish average from the end of last season but hoping for better things to come. Averaging close to 50 a game regardless means he hasn't dissapointed.

Cook having a floor of 47 sucks for those that captained him but this was his lowest score last year and likely will be his lowest of this year as well. I know no-one is panic selling keepers but had a bit of time so looked at 2019 Cook vs 2018 Cook to see if there was anything to worry about.

    NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 39 - Page 25 Cook_t10

The big standout to me is his kicking. That's an extra 3 points a game the Cook of years past wouldn't get between KM and FDO. It also means his TA numbers have jumped significantly as the hooker goaline grubber is a good source of fantasy points (TA or normally at worst a FDO).

As to where its going wrong while I don't have any stats to back me up I personally feel like Cook isn't taking the ball himself anywhere near as much as he was last year or at least taking it into the defensive line as much. Last year I feel he would pick it up and he'd be looking to break through the line. This year it seems he takes those first few steps and is looking for a pass rather than to break the line himself...... But basically in less running he's missing 1 point in MG, 1 point in LB, 4 points in TBs, 1 point in offloads and 2 points in tries a game.

Whether his running game is suffering because he's working under a new/more structured system with Bennett, has taken on a leadership role within the team, defenses have keyed in on him more or something else (note I have no idea) the stats show he's scoring less because his running game isn't as effective as it was last year and if his kicking didn't compensate for that we'd be looking at Cook averaging closer to 56 this season instead of 62. If we start to see his running game come back to 2018 levels and his kicking stays similar the scary thing is we'd be looking at the first million dollar player likely averaging 71+ points a game.

Regardless of the small running game drop he's still a top 17 player and a good stick and forget captain option as he's one of only a few guys capable of averaging 60+ consistently. Might not be the same as last years dominating force but I wouldn't be concerned by this one off game.

Like mattnz said quite a few teams wont have had many of their starting 17 play yet especially with the amount of withdrawals people are probably keeping (RTS, Garner, Nikora) I suspect many will have looping scores that don't show yet. Personally I've had 6 play so far. Also I reckon many still have their captain still to play (Ponga, Bateman, DCE, Taupau, Fifita, Arrow, Farah etc.) so there is that to consider. Always best to ignore the mid round rankings as there is only 400 some points between 1st and 2,500th. A good early captain or player difference can make some massive differences mid round that dont matter a lot by the end*.

*Unless you hit 1st mid round. Take photos of that and bask in the glory forever.

I think that those who don't have Cook yet will stay without him a little longer, as Farah is about to be the preferred premium hooker trade in.

Mid round rankings are really just a reflection on how many players you've had. Not how well you are going.

Last week on Sunday I went from rank 8000+ to just outside the top 1000 on a single day, because my big scorers were on Sunday and I went from 386 points to 904 over 2 games.

This week there will be a lot of AEs getting added in on Sunday evening too. Both from deliberate looping, and people getting caught out by Garner's late withdrawal.
The earlier Thursday lockout may have surprised a few casual players too who might have red dots stuck in their 17 (although these players probably don't have a great rank)
