    Not sure if it has been posted yet but here is a highlight package of tom deardon in the qld cup.

    Good short kicking game and doesnt mind taking on the line. Obviously plays with alot of confidence stealing the ball off that prop, kicking goals from halfway. Looks decent.
    Thoughts?

    It’s going to be a tough game for an 18 year old half to debut in. At least when brown did it in rd1 he knew weeks before in preseason.

    I’d say he will have to make at least 20 tackles, hows his defence? Is he going to miss Maloney like numbers? I’m going to have a look at how he goes this week with a view of using him as a cash out next week.

    Sam Burgess will be running at him two times a set. When he gets bored his brothers will have a go.

    Brilliant. Was proper singing along to that!

    Champagne supernova work?

    How many Sele’s did he change
    From starting lock, to be estranged
    And where was Yeo while he were getting high

    Slowly scrolling down the wall

    And there was Yeo while Hame was getting high

    Sele, you won’t find him
    Caught beneath, panthers side
    No more TLT appearances, in sight

    SI wrote:With Cook, I think if you've Captained him all year you've actually done better than it feels.  I paid the premium so I wouldn't have to worry about spinning the roulette wheel every week.  It actually has pretty much paid off.

    Cook is the 5th highest scorer thus far.  DCE and Cam are both not even half a point better; Bateman and Fifi around 1.5 points better.  The amount of people who would have Captained Bateman all year would be miniscule, and I doubt any serious players would have been that brave Round 1.  Not that many more for DCE from Round 1 I wouldn't think.  Fifi had the injury scare, and I know a few kept the faith, but a lot would have taken the armband off him for at least that Round.

    So Cam, Cook, and to a lesser degree Fifi would be the 3 that most people may have Captained all year.  Between Cam and Cook there is just over 1 point difference over the ENTIRE 7 Rounds (not each Round, just over 1 point gain through the whole freaking lot).  So I'd call that evens.  Fifi for the 7 Rounds has gained you an extra 10 points in total over the entire 7 Rounds.  10 points is nominal, but yeah, it's still an extra 10 points.

    Then there are probably 3 generic scenarios for those who have played Captain's Roulette:
    -they chose the right C every week and could be 100 or more points to the better;
    -they chose wrong every week and are 100 or more points worse off;
    -they had a mix and are roughly no better or worse off.
    No idea how you could even suggest a percentage of those who did the above, but I haven't seen a single person say they have got the C right every week on here, which could loosely be extrapolated to the general Fantasy community (no doubt there would be the rare few who have jagged it).

    For me, I'm glad I have stuck with Cook.  My hair has really started thinning lately and deciding a C on Thursday arvo's won't help.  (The good thing I have found about thinning hair though is when it's a grey one that falls out never to grow back then it's a small victory each and every time  cheer  )

    Happy for my maths to be destroyed here if there is something I have glaringly missed, it's never been my strong point.  Naturally people have different combos of players, so this would be in a perfect world where you have all of those in your team to choose from.  And naturally there are other high scorers for a Round outside these 5  flower

    TL;DR: Yes we wanted more, but Cook has still been a great C option; personally I am finding picking and sticking a balanced reward; and getting old sucks.

    Great post SI & you have seemed to become wiser with age even if you're losing your hair. Unfortunately this old man has pure white hair so you have a way to go to catch up to me haha.

    Anyone else floundering outside the top 6000, and looking for a leg up?

    Lomax 23% v Flanagan at 3%

    Those Lomax numbers are surely propped up by casuals yeah?

    Yeah, lot of people make a team pre-srason then don't even look at it. I'm the same with Supercoach.

    I could, but my point was I paid a premium for him at the beginning of the season, foolishly expecting him to post massive scores and I wouldn't have to worry about playing the captaincy lottery each week. Should have gone with Smith and continued with the saying 'Always captain Smith!'

    Smith is only averaging 0.2 more than Cook which I am comfortable calling negligible (unless I came second by a point or 2 at seasons end). It’s also only been the last 2 weeks Smith has closed the gap with back to back 70+ scores and Smith has had a 42 this season, lower than Cook’s current low score.

    If you have picked Cook each and every week your Captain is averaging near enough to 62 and that’s got to be a pass mark.

    I had Smith all pre season but got spooked by BSmith and also the ‘he’s got to start slowing down at some point’ theory. Have regretted it but would have had him and Cook, not instead of. He will rip the Broncos a new one is my tip, so I’m staying on board even against my team.

    I don't think Lomax ever dropped below 16% ish after he wasn't named in round 1.

    EDIT: Lowest he got to was 16.30%.

    Nrlphysio tweeted that Wade Graham has begun full training and is hoping for round 11.

    They have the bye in round 12, so maybe they'll just wait until after that. May depend on the Sharks form I guess, and how desperate they are for a win.
