What’s the nature of the complaint MTB? The website name, the stats data or something else? In any case, you need legal advice.

I’ve got 9 registered websites all related to one industry. I got a legal letter from a company who uses the name of one of my websites. After legal advice, they were told the only option was to buy the website from me. Haven’t heard a word. That was 3 years ago.

If it’s data related, different matter.

I'd say you better take it down, there is a pretty compelling argument to make that you leveraging off their brand and awareness and providing a similar service (Their subscription).

If you had a different name, different website and didn't look the same, I'd say you would be fine. But that's not the case.

Best intentions and moral higher ground aside, it's not worth putting yourself at risk of financial liability.

No doubt the first step is nrl.com issuing a cease and desist letter without the intention of progressing to legal action. If I was you I would suspend the site until you know what your position is (someone offered a pro bono consultation?) and take it from there.

It's easy for us to say fight it when we aren't on the hook if it goes pear shaped.

I am sure MTB does this because he enjoys it (and enjoys helping us other fools out) but if it starts to impact on him and his family then it's not worth dying in a ditch over.

I don't think anyone here is saying to fight it. Just seeking a second opinion from legal. Most are free

I don't get it, no where else is there a similar service whatsoever .. anything Nrl related is horse shit.

Once data is released, how do they prove where anyone else obtained it from ?
