Trying to find a mix of popular players in difficult positions, with having a stronger option where others are going cheaper. Really not easy. The below is okay, the bench is weak though, can afford Hess over Su’a, but I can’t ride the hype.

The obvious way of strengthening the bench is dropping Williams, and bringing in CHN or someone around that Price.

I’m a fan of having a guy pick that everyone else thinks is risky, for me this year I think I’ll go Williams, George.

What do people think of picks like CNK, I can’t see that he finds another 5-10pts a game, but I like the idea of starting with a wfb I can rely on. Hopoate is another id consider.

Hard to fit in with pappy, and value in the mid tier forwards

I think Williams and Val Holmes are exactly that this year

The consensus is people like them both, but are looking at them as value buys and they are not value.

    Nikora (3)  Brown (1) Garrick (12) Simonsson (51)

His biggest POD was Kerrod Holland, who wasn't a POD on this site (same goes for Burns too). Most of his players were just regular picks. Lane and Vaughan were the closest to POD status, but it was pretty much a cookie cutter forum team.

He actually has fewer hookers than I remember. I had the idea that he had about six.

Interesting one to look at in hindsight, and to give our projections some perspective.

Was 600k, I think? (my site is wrong, it has their starting price this year as their starting price in 2019).

Averaged 50 from 65 mins in 2018 when starting at 2nd row, from 14 games, so solid sample size. Looked like someone who should repeat that in 2019, had his spot locked down for 80 mins, Eels on the up, all signs pointed to a good year.

Ended up averaging 42 from 77 mins in 2019. Cemented himself as a mid ranger.

Bit different this year as we are mostly looking at guys between 400k to 500k (so more room for cash generation without needing to put up keeper scores), but it will be interesting to look back and see who doesn't work out like we all expect. There are always a couple.

As Milchy explained, I didn't take any real POD options, just a different combination of them
It's more of how you fit them all in and at what the $$$ to chicken ratio is. Or how full you get from each $$$

ie Do you buy a streetwise pack or several small snack deals.
Maybe you just like Popcorn chicken and want a bucket.
Generally the popular versions are the best value

End result for the first round is you fill yourself to the brim, just don't go buying a healthy vegetarian wrap thinking because no one else is getting it it will be better
Chances are you will be wrong as there is no chicken in this

If you want a reliable WFB scorer, your best bet is finding the cash for Ponga, Trbo, or all the way up to Tedesco. Keep them in your team all year.

Don't see CNK making much cash, and you'll need to trade him out at some point. So it's as bit of a dead spot in your team

Also, for people using ownership percentage to select players. The autofill algorithm is skewing the popularity of a bunch of cheapies. How are you going to with out who is genuinely popular and who only appears in a bunch of inactive teams

Yep, he was one I thought was going to be a good pick. He was one of a few that hurt me. dEdwards. Choosing gHost over the other guy, who killed it....

Jamayne Taunoa-Brown has signed a two year deal with the Warriors. Will probably find a spot on the bench in round 1.

Not really that relevant observation as those three players were all new to the club/nrl. Can you believe they were tossing up playing brad Fucking abbey at the start of 2019 over CNK.

Actually I didn't go with that in the end haha, Was kinda in between going all in or not with more gun hookers and less overall cover prior to lockout (which mine was still cookie cutter when I sent to you).
Made a gut call and the rest is history I guess.

Team looked like this in the first page:
    https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t783-trials-and-tribulations-of-a-nrl-fantasy-coach-2019-end-result-40th

    Cook
    Tolman Napa
    Arrow Murray Garner
    Morgan Keighran
    Capewell Nikora
    Burns Sivo Ravalawa

    Smith Friend McCullough Mahoney

    Kahu Brown Host Garrick

    ______________________
The changes I sent to you but off memory I decided to play Nikora in the Ctr's full time with less cover (Instead of a mid ranger like Holland) and free up some cash
Gamble on Napa over Vaughan to make $$$ and free up some cash
And turn a mid ranger in lane into another hooker in Smith

Basically, from the team i posted, you took out all the PODs, and replaced them with more conventional players.

Very cookie cutter in the end. Only difference was having all the hooker, instead of picking a couple.

Exactly, more of a gun/rookie setup in hindsight with the hookers doing the heavy lifting where the points are a lot safer
While I wasn't 100% on some players, I still bought to hedge my bets in case I missed out (With the thought to have them on the chopping block rd 2/3 as easy trade outs Ie Kahu/Garrick)

That is the gamble with a full mid range team, if they don't increase in value to keeper or even worse lose $$ as what happened in hindsight with Edwards/Holland.
How long do you hold onto them?

While not being terrible and holding value the below left me in limbo of sell/hold.
It also doesn't help when you can see cheaper versions doing similar and making cash

Off memory the past few years I started with Ah Mau/Lichaa/McCullough even Tolman and all fit this.
While 'safe' the upside was never really huge

Who knows which of the mid range players will do that this year, all a calculated gamble really
