What’s lockdown phase are you guys on in NZ and AUS

I’m interested in the return of community sports, hasn’t been released yet in Wales but seen the phased returns for NZ and Ireland, I’ve heard rumours the WRU are making some potentially shitty changes like the re introduction of ‘tag rugby’ for when the season resumes for u9-12s which I Hope is not the case!

The phased returns I’ve seen in the NZ and Ireland model look like a decent compromise to at least getting some mini rugby back up and running! I don’t mind not working and being at home but I’m really starting to miss the junior rugby, it’s our age groups year for district honours in the new season and I’m praying it doesn’t get too badly effected

Thanks mate! I could deal with a return to social distancing training on a month over here, but it looks so far away from happening!

We did take action relatively quickly, but you guys have double the population and we are 30 times bigger than you - a lot easier to spread in the UK once it takes hold.

I can guarantee you that the lack of spread is not a result of Australians doing the right thing. I can only vouch for what I've seen and people in Perth have been fucking useless. No social distancing whatsoever in most places. There was a small period where I didn't see anyone out when I'd go and shoot some hoops and then everyone was out and about but didn't care. It is purely because we're so isolated that this didn't affect us.

I guess everyone's experience is a little different. I live inner city and have been going into work the entire time, i'd say 95% of people i see day to day over the past couple of months are trying to do the right thing.

I do think we got lucky in that it never really made it into the community.

I think it was mostly pretty good, especially for the first few weeks when it was most important. Public places would be much less busy. Stuff like the mass gatherings on Bondi Beach were not as common as you'd be lead to believe, and photos made them look worse than they are

Noticable difference here for me started on ANZAC day - I went to Coles in the afternoon, and there was a queue of over 100 people to get into the nearby K-Mart.

They are talking about no scrums or tackling over here....for the full season!!!

For our local football league training looks like it will be starting on the 14th so next Thursday with a proposed starting date of the 30th.
Training will be under a 1m distancing rule i believe which is fairly easy to apply at training. Would guess the season starts at Level 1

Bryce Cartwright is set to be stood down by the NRL as it toughens its stance on vaccination following pressure from the federal government.

Cartwright initially refused to sign a waiver accepting liability for refusing to take the flu shot, however the waiver looks set to become irrelevant with reports suggesting the NRL will adjust its policy to align with Prime Minister Scott Morrison's 'no jab, no play' suggestion.

That would rule Cartwright out indefinitely and he is not alone, with three Raiders players also refusing the flu shot due to religious beliefs.

Among those players is Test star Josh Papalii, who did not attend the first Raiders training session after the COVD-19 shutdown as he sought clarity on the NRL's vaccination policy.

Cartwright, Papalii, Sia Soliolo and Joseph Tapine are the four players who have made headlines since the flu jab was raised as an issue but there are likely to be several others at loggerheads with the tough stance.

    More to follow...

NRL have played this perfectly. If they stood down anti-vaxxers they would have potential lawsuits on their hands as a result. Now that they have said they can play but the government isn't allowing them to takes all burden off the NRL.
