Upside is that he stays starting, scores 45-50 all year making him a borderline keeper and a good earner

This is why I am bringing in the Horse. Ricky rewards effort and there is a spot up for grabs in the starting side. He either becomes a work...HORSE and scores decent points or is first fiddle off the bench playing big minutes.

They need him on the field more often than not.

I do worry that the fly in fly out thing may affect the Raiders. I hope this doesn't pose as an issue in relation to fantasy.

Agree, and any injury or suspension in the starting forwards should see him as starting middle again, plus if Bateman leaves he gets lock permanently.

Also if you have traded for a different position, keep the new player in your NPR so you can reverse it.

If you sub say Watkins to Grant, and then start Grant for some reason you won't be able to reverse it, but if you have Grant in 14-21 then you can (that specific situation is unlikely to happen, but you get the idea)

Also - for those playing SC or VSDT, once you hit lockout, you can't reverse at all.
Best situation is to trade as late as possible for each individual trade - but that requires a lot of dedication, so its not something everyone can do.

Another useful thing to remember is if you captain someone tonight (Haas), then put the VC on another person in the same game. No point locking out a VC that plays later in the weekend when you know your captain is playing.

It's a pity my red dot (Maubs) doesn't play later in the round. I'll get a look at Hopoate's score (if I go that way) but assuming I take it, I'll need to decide my final player out of:

    Katoa
    Rudolf
    Luai

I will get a look at Warriors final team lists before I decide, and obviously if Katoa is starting I'll play him. But assuming he comes off the bench who would you pick? Thanks

Not worried about Teo, isnt even signed yet, hasnt played League for many years, no reserve grade available to play with first.

I understand the appeal, just too much risk for me. He'll have to average 40 over the coming 3 weeks to make 150K. All it takes is a sub 40 game to make that harder and once TPJ is back, Hopo will either be starting or fighting between 3 players for a bench spot (4 if Te'o is in the fold).

Just isn't someone I am looking at but I see the appeal.

You could say I am a bit 'out of the loop' but does Cleary work for a loop?

    Can I have this?

My 17th player will be one of these. If Katoa doesn't start, I'm leaning towards Luai.

They will look at stadiums again come R9 so this may even change... ie change stadium locations for the rest of the year or open up all stadiums.

My trades would be so easy but for one thing.
    Out: Fifita, Stimson, Williams, Knight
    In: Taumalolo, Matterson, Grant, Fogarty

The one thing which is bugging me is Horse. He is a potential FRF keeper for just $539 and choosing him over Matterson would leave me with near $250k to slot Cleary straight into my team when he returns. But I am just so sold on Matterson and surely a gun in the hand is worth two in the bush?

If Horse hadn’t got that try save in R2 he would have scored 42 and then nobody would be as keen on him. Also why did he get 62 minutes in R1 and only 50 in R2? I remember a HIA being involved. He found 17 points in attacking stats in R1 but only 1 in R2. The waters are murkier with Horse than people want to believe.

Tl:dr- Matterson V Horse: definite gun vs maybe gun + cash

I reckon it might be worth holding off on Capewell for a week until we see the Panthers rotation. I can slot Wiliame in and grab Hopoate for a short little 150k stimulus package and grab Capewell in next week. This is what I'll be pondering until kick off

Great post. I would also like some enlightenment as I am looking at both Matterson and Horse but the cheaper plus Cleary sounds good to me.

Cleary being late in the round is great for a loop. If anyone wants to place their teams in the loop thread I am happy to make suggestions there today.

With the shorter season does everyone think we still have the ability to milk our cows dry or will we have to cash in a little earlier than wanting to?

Visa Versa - Do we have the chance to "wait" for a gun to fall in price. With the shorter season we may be waiting until the last few games if you dont jump on early enough.

That should work, but will be a very short turn around to swap Guler and Cleary if you don't like Rudolf's score

Cut price guns will be the key to this season I think. Missing horse if he does become cut price keeper will put you behind.

Good point. There is no denying Horse had plenty of energy and gave it his all and I think that's boosting his value in fantasy coach's eyes. He got HIAed last 3 mins of the game. Before that papalii had an HIA in the 70th minute. Hors probably would have played on regardless because he was brought on 50th minute.

If I were ricky I'd be playing Horse off the bench, he didn't look too fit and his play style lends itself perfectly to 50 minutes. If you think he can PPM for the whole season then why not for 539k?

If he averages 50 for 3 more games he makes 104k regardless. Not much risk for a lot of reward
