NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 2 - Backdoor Entry

"Wests Tigers duo AJ Kepaoa and Zane Musgrove have been arrested after allegedly abusing police outside a pub in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Both players were released without charge, with Kepaoa, 20, receiving a $A550 fine."

DCE said he likes playing with a dominant half as it frees up his running game. DCE will still get his kms and tackles as his base stats

Just read a rediculous Rd1 predicted Tigers team. Liddle to play 80! No bench hooker or backs! I really admire optimistic people who don’t let reality get in the way! If this was true, as a Tigers supporter, I’d have to watch the game from behind the couch!

Jesus, I was reserving judgement on the Macca thing and maybe McInnes would just play big minutes at lock, but this is becoming laughable now.

Anyone of us on this forum could come up with better predicted teams then the ones that are put out on Fox and NRL.com. I don't even look at them anymore they are so out of touch.

Indeed. In 44 NRL games, Liddle has only played 60mins 3 times and never more than 70. (Courtesy of NRL Fantasy Stats)

While the posting of numerous iterations of peoples fantasy teams is frowned upon by quite a few in here, I think an exception can be made in your case.
There are two important reasons for this  



PS. You should put McInnes up with Angus and Ford so that your team is MID/EDG compliant

I think 6 Origin players is too many to start with. Makes it really hard to manage and score decently at Origin time.

In my current draft team, I only have 1 in Turbo.

6 seems high, but 1 seems low. Are you still aiming for 1 by R13?

Yes, typically I don't add them pre-origin. Would be ok with buying value if a gun gets injured in round 1 and loses $100k+.

Do you guys just use last years origin squads as a basis for who might be out for this origin?

A non-origin gun team is decent:

The best team you could field in round 13 is something like:
McInnes
TPJ Yeo Twal
Matterson Lucy
Moses Brown
Best Lomax
Nofo Edwards Staines

I currently have 4 of these players in my team. Will likely end up with more of them in the final team version. Pretty much all of them are good enough to stay as keepers in your team for the season. All of them (short of injury) are likely to score more in the first 13 rounds than their equivalently priced Origin players.

One seems absurdly low. What's your plan for getting in Cook/Cleary/DCE/Ted? Just not have any of them until round 20 and leak points?

I'm in favour of minimising Origin players as a means to early bye planning - usually by placing a premium of Kiwis and Brits, but they're thinner on the ground this year and eight of last year's ten best scorers are Origin players. Of the Kiwis there's Lolo obviously. Tohu if he replicates last season. JFH and SST might be worth a look, but are they going to match the Origin Tino who's 100k less?

There's also the problem that if a non-Origin player - let's say Matterson - does what you hope and plays and scores amazingly then they might get Origin anyway.

Thinking about round 13 before the season has begun is well overated.

You have to use judgement because a lot of players pulled out with injury last year

Ponga, Fifita & Turbo are practically definite selections that missed out last year

With this year though it'll just be the 17 for QLD/NSW missing out rather than 27 man squads and it's only minimum of 1 game as 2nd Origin occurs on standalone Rep weekend (excluding players getting a rest, like Teddy usually does)
