Laurie looked even better last week running from 6, before he then went to fullback later in that game and was comparatively quiet.  Bloke can create on his own merit and had 2 line breaks against the Roosters that could have become tries/try assists but were both dubiously called back.

There's a bit of Barba in him, hopefully without the lifestyle to match. But the Douehi suspension and Mbye injury creates so many unknowns.

Mbye has the makings of a great 14, and that isn't actually sarcasm.

Check out the highlights of Manly vs Tigers. Josh Schuster played pretty well. Steal in the 200K region.

I think Madge has to play it that way with Mybe at 14. Has to think a little more outside the box and not play into another season of 'also rans'. Also what was the fuss at getting Laurie early from Penrith if you genuinely didn't see him as your starting FB

I guess on-field wise getting a kid like that a year early only has an upside? But yeah, without googling it, I think the timeline had Mbye relinquishing the Captaincy before Laurie came across; which in turn suggests the writing was on the wall for Mbye as far as being in the fully fit 13 goes anyway.

Nothing to stand out from any of the centre candidates. Whoever gets the job should hold it for atleast 4 weeks until Naden is back in the picture, who knows after that.

I'd rather take 2 of Roberts/Bird/Walker due to job security

I’m leaning away from Bird/Walker as their teams looks terrible and this translates into less scoring opportunities. Opacic, Momo, maybe Scott under consideration

He wasn’t starved of the ball with Roberts next to him. Still doing his characteristic early set sideways runs

Made a good LB down the middle in the 2nd half and scored pretty simple try

Having snooped on the Manly forum, they are down on Siro and it seems their preferred backrow is 2 of Davey/Gosi/Haumole

Which almost certainly won't happen, and Sironen will be there round 1. Just have to hope whoever he is partnered with managed to stick around for more than a week or 2

Admittedly Manly aren't a team I watch a lot of, but I'd be stunned if Sironen is the 4th best edge player out of that lot.

I think it is tradiaitonal of fan forums to have a scape goat that gets blames for all losses and demand he gets dropped.

With few other established first graders actually playing, I guess Sironen was the easiest target of hate for the loss

The Manly forum is the worst forum.

Not sure who has the best forum. The Raiders one usually seems pretty sane.

I guess because the Tigers tore them up down that side in the first half? Might be a different story though if DCE is standing there and not an 18yr old kid.

Fwiw Gosi wasn't too bad in his stint. Nothing to write home about but had a nice line break and defended ok.

Still haven't heard anything about Haumole and why he didn't play yesterday

Agree though I do wonder if it won't be long until Bird plays as an edge forward. Ford looked pretty bad in the first two trials and then we see Griffin put Kerr there for the charity shield... That's desperate...

I guess they do have Fuimaono as well

Oh yeah, I know. But it's usually a somewhat reasonable target. Sea Eagles rivalling Dragons for deluded fans based on this.

Not a criticism but I have noticed 100% correlation with MTB mentioning a player and it featuring in your next draft.

    This.
All first half tigers tries came from them targeting Weekes poor defence.
Sironen had his hands full trying to defend against Luciano and also covering for Weekes.
Sironen will be there for sure and I hope Davey beats out Gosiewski for the other spot.
I think Davey only played about 20-25 minutes and I thought he was very impressive.
Gosiewski was also ok and better than I expected.
Manly were a mess with no hooker and I don’t see that changing without one for the season.
