I'm deciding to run somewhat of an experiment and have made another team starting round 2.  I'm not really sure what I'm trying to achieve to be honest, but I think I kind of want to see what would happen starting a team after seeing a full round.  Miss potential duds, jump on money makers from the start and I guess see if any gain can be made in relation to if I can catch up at all later in the year.  See if players are one hit wonders and I think try and generate some more cash.  I'm bored and need to escape the reality of work as much as possible so thought it would be a laugh.  This is what I'm starting with but any ideas on who I've missed or need to drop, go for it.  Pretty difficult with prices rising already, but came up with something okay to start with.

    Brailey
    Ofa Watson LAM
    Siro Fifita
    Cleary Townsend
    Opacic Momo
    Ted Mitchell Pappy

    Liddle Toops Leniu Laurie

    Alvaro Moylan Mead Niu

19K left.  I know the bench is tight but I think the likes of Cleary and Ted have to be here or else it's not worth doing and Mitchell is too good to pass up and Fifita got 60 doing nothing so I think is a safe bet.  Skipping Lodge, Bird, Riki, Lam, Avo, will be interesting to see any result later on.

A few I'm thinking of that I've missed are Milf, Jackson, Young, Fui?  Probably more.

Suddenly he does it in round 1 and everyone remembers that Cleary can score 90+ like they somehow forgot in the off season. Never seen a bunch of well seasoned coaches scrabble so hard before. Fucking love it, but why is nobody bringing in Tedesco now that we know he scores hattricks?

I reckon he's in the Tino role. Will play good minutes most of the time with a scattering of breakout games. Last season was starting prop before getting injured, ahead of Tino/NAS etc, so highly rated.

If I was after a MID, I'd take him ahead of all the options being discussed from Ofa down.

was on my pre season watch list but got lost in the BS9 and Nas shuffle after Finucane and Grant went down. Might take him and Leniu, has there been anything concrete on Lodge? I still want to keep him

Milford looks like the best of the 3 to continue making scores and cash if you can still field 17 with another MID for 1 week.

In the same boat as most people having to deal with Lodge and play his replacement this week. In a like-for-like MID trade and with the luxury of a bit of coin saved to account for such emergencies, the obvious targets are Leniu, LAM, and Ofa (already have Alvaro). Ofa jumps out for a few reasons - good score = good cash generation, from what I gather he was pretty involved, plus it always seems safer to pick a starting prop. LAM's score included a try and associated bonus points (only 36 base points) and represents the middle ground but is the prototypical PPM bench middle. Leniu is cheap and with a defined role, though uncertainty regarding minutes - probably somewhere around 35 is a safe guess (Mulvy and Chewie did some detective work on this earlier in the thread).

However, one thing that makes me a little wary is Ofa's 43mins for a starting prop with a 3-forward bench. Its actually not that great a timeshare. HIAs might have messed with rotations but we cant really work that out from one game. That might be his ceiling for minutes (45mins).

If you look at LAM vs Ofa in 40-50mins in any role, LAM goes 38pts in 40mins vs Ofa at 40pts in 45mins. You'd think 37-42points is reasonable for both of them and that's fine for a scorer at this point - so is it better to bank the extra $50k with LAM over Ofa or just go cheap like a North Haverbrook monorail and grab Leniu.

Just my thoughts for a Tuesday morning. Now I've gotta go run this damn town.

He got good minutes this week, but what will it be like when Grant and Finucane return?

Maybe he'll be that guy who keeps finding ways to boost his score, but I am a bit concerned he is short term

If I started Milford I would be happyish but if Coates and Asiata out along with Lodge and the Titans complete their sets then surely David Fifita running at Milford, Riki and Niu all day is worrying for owners. Not sure Milf gets two try assists this week so I would say you are looking at a score around 40 points at best. Could be wrong though but think until Haas gets back they struggle bigtime in next 3 games. Bench is not going to offer anything, although Bullemor played well. I'm content to hold Lam over trading to Milf for now.
m Cheers mate, makes a valid point as I am already worried about running with Riki this weekend 👍

He was starting prop last year because Welch was injured to start the season wasn't he?

Surely Welch and JBrom are the starting props and then once Finucane is back then NAS back to bench, along with Smith once Grant is back and suddenly a lot more competition on the bench for middle minutes.

I would've thought he'd just get 30-35 mins once they're back to the full contingent.

But I'm not a Storm fan so happy to be corrected by someone that knows better

Anything interesting going to happen at TLT today?

Roosters are going to name a 1 week trap for Crichton

Manly might make some changes (Croker or Gosi dropped the main ones fantasy people care about)

Wonder if the Tigers will change anything after a fairly poor performance. Doueihi starting hopefully makes us more creative in attack. Garner wasn't great and only started anyway because Blore was out so wonder if they'll do something there.

Anything else people want or think might happen

While under normal circumstances I'd totally agree with you - trading Crichton is insane ...
But, not having Cleary this year is more insane. The kid picks up points like he's picking up TikTok views.

There's no guarantee that Fifita remains on the the left running at Milf and co. He's always played right edge, played right edge in the trial and last week they were managing his workload due to being crook all week. I wouldn't be surprised to see him left or right side. Certainly as a Milf, Riki, Niu owner I'd prefer the other side, but if Fifita is busting all their tackles, at least I get the Fifita points.
