I can't believe I'm treading water with this squad at rank 11,076

In the dead zone with 14 trades only and 24k

Looking to combine 2 patented* MS strategies moving forward. I'll be trading in players that don't get injured AND players that score lots of tries

I should be able to come out of origin period with 8-10 trades left while not sacrificing on numbers for 17

Round 14 I want to move on 2 players likely to drop cash (Reimis and Watson prime candidates) for the best round 17 option in Tohu. Will probably need a cash out CTR/WFB to fund it, Chambers the front runner

Lot of value options popping up that might need a reversal of form between 13 and 17 to be worthwhile

With Welch out I'm gambling that I can make up the lost points by playing Leniu and trading Welch to MC9 a round early, allowing me to l**p Laurie and Starling.

Did some mathematics and figured I have no room for 400k players like the Fleg. Need to trade Leniu and Simpkin for two cash outs and ride into the sunset with my 19 men.

Still deciding myself between JFH, TPJ or Thompson. Not sure which way to go

JFH may do well now but taper off towards the end of the year as minutes are reduced

TPJ may  get picked for Origin which will be incredibly annoying if I get him this week. Good ceiling though for a MID and has DPP

Thompson doesn’t play 13 and has a few forwards returning this week. Could affect his play. More a long term selection that he’ll play Round 17 and be a keeper

Thompson is on my post round 13 trade in list, but it's a tough sell to grab him now. Think I would go with JFH due to job security, although there could be some rough weeks to end the year

I have this weird feeling Green is gonna go HAM on Cowboys players and pick Holmes, Feldt, Hess, Molo, Granville.

Just comes across as that kind of guy.

If you are trading out someone like Papenhuyzen for him, you also have to factor in that he has BE of around 100.
So if he scores 2 x 50’s upon his return, he loses around 100k.

Would have to be Crichton for me. Yeah I'm not doing it, Crichton is only missing one game, I'll hold him, skip Hynes.

The next question is do I bring in Flegler for Simpkin. Really can't see Fleg playing origin...but there is some risk there I guess if he is appearing in predicted teams. Won't have the cash for it next week, its now or never

Any reasons why Twal's minutes have been all over the place this season?

And IF Capewell is going to play Origin (which I am seeing a lot think he will), should I move him on this week?

I've owned Twal for the season and had a pretty close minutes watch on him. My best guess for why his minutes have been all over the show is that its the same reason why their team selection has been all over the show = COACH...

There was one week where he went off after 30 minutes or so and that was a one-off.

Otherwise, coach just seems to give him a decent first stint, and then it's a bit random how long he comes back for the second stint.

As a "non-leagie" watching him play though, he seems to be the sort of guy that could play 60-70 minutes each week pretty comfortably. Would mean the Mikale's, Stefano's, Seyfath's etc can have more frequent and impactful shorter stints.

Hopefully last week, where he played ~70 straight is the new normal.

I think he should be playing a Haas type rotation though. Play for first 40 + 5-10 minutes of the beginning of second half, have a 10-20 min break and then come back on for the rest.

He won't be in the coaching job for long if he takes that route.

Out of interest, Im playing VSDT, where we have 17 scoring players and 8 reserves. I've double traded every week, don't currently own D Fifita or Pappy, and have exactly 17 to play this round. SO even in that comp, its getting tough to field 17 lol.

Yeah, probably smart to hold and skip Hynes.

Has it been confirmed Crichton's suspension is including Origin 1 and back 14?

It's hard, he scores 30 tonight it looks like a waste of a trade.  He scores 80 it looks like a masterstroke.

leaning towards bringing him (Hynes) in.  Admittedly that's with a few more trades than most around here.  Unlike Walsh (who might be a season long keeper - even if not gun), Hynes is likely to be a trade out when he reverts to a bench role.

Reassuring that when Papy came back the other week, it was Ryley Jacks that made way with Hynes moving to 6.  Interested to know the goalkicking pecking order at the Storm.  Does Hynes keep it while Papy/Munster (and Smoothy!) remain out?  Or is Hughes/Jacks/someone else in the team/fringes likely to take over?

Ramsey worries me slightly in that he's failed to finish a game three times and missed one through injury.
Could be something to keep an eye on.

Yeah grabbed Thompson in draft a month ago and he's been great. Interested to see his minutes with both Jackson and Hetherington back now though - last time they were both in he only played 50 minutes.

Like you said JFH will be solid, but will have reduced minutes towards the end of the year.

I might take the punt that he gets the spot for the next two weeks and kills it.
At least I can put the money to good use in other areas of my squad

    Interesting Hodgson quote...

"I am not going to let my own ego stand in the way of the next generation at the club. I want to leave this club always on good terms. If I am butting heads to try and start when that is probably not the best for Tommy's development then maybe it is my time to move on".

Sounds good for Starling I guess?

Thinking of taking a cash grab on Chris Lewis?

He was absolutely outstanding on our left edge last week and looked like a natural 6. At times I had to remind myself Munster wasn’t playing.

He has a very low BE, is on 246K, did a fair chunk of kicking and running last week. Plus next week with the like of Munster, Grant, Finucane, Kaufusi and Pappy out he will either find himself on the edge or at half again and then hope for a resting in the team or a couple more cash rises off the bench before selling for hopefully a 130K+ cash grab (40 avg over the next 3).

I have 20 trades and thought why not take a gamble? Hope for a 40avg over the next 3 against Broncos tonight, Fifita, Tino and Mofo-less Titans team and then hopefully a decent role off the bench against NZ

    Thought?

Trades (Walker + Pappy > TPJ + Lewis + 500K for a Simpkin trade next week and to grab the likes of Fifita and Pappy after Origin.

EDIT: Gives me 13 (not including Simpkin) for R13 and 14 if I trade Simpkin next week... probably bank the other 3 as I have no other trade outs
