Having seen Aitken in the CTRs for the Dragons for years, I’ll be shocked if he ever offloads in a tackle. I’m not sure he knows you’re allowed to pass.

Aitken did manage 1.0 offloads last year.

Not per game, that was his season total.

There's plenty to like about Aitken if he starts on the edg but the problem is 1 backline injury in the game & he's back in the ctrs

    Lulz

I still remember when some media types 5-ish years back were hyping that Aitken should be the rookie centre in Origin ahead of Latrell. As a Dragons fan, it was wild to think it was a serious conversation

I do think edge is going to be his best position going forward as he can just focus on hard running into gaps in attack, and not worry so much about tricky things like “passing to the winger with an open run to the tryline”

I can't imagine how frustrating it would for a winger to be outside a ctr who is greedy & doesn't pass you the ball...the main job of a ctr is to create space for the winger so he can finish tries but in modern league this has been forgotten/ignored.

exception AFB because he's not really a warriors player but like most big men it takes a little bit longer to gain optimal match fitness unless you are Haas.

    Come gather 'round coaches
    Wherever you roam
And admit that the old guns
    Around you have gone
    And accept it that
    Smitty will never come home
If your season to you is worth savin'
    And you better get Cleary
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

Warriors always seems to have an exception to this rule as well. Used to be Matulino, I think - currently I am pretty sure Bunty Afoa starts strongly (but still not fantasy relevant) and gets fewer and fewer minutes/less impact as the season progresses.

I've already forgotten which Wests prop we all picked last year who started high-ish minutes and then faded quickly into a wasted spot.

Agree with the pecking order here but I reckon the 4th bench spot will either go to Taaffe playing a 2019 Papenhuyzen kind of role, or maybe even Havili/Mamouzelos if Souths think they can get more out of Cook playing 60 minutes. Seems to be a trend for hookers to play less and that could suit Cook.
Just read off a Souths forum that Liam Knight is injured and likely out til round 3-4. This could give Davy Moale the chance to cement a bench spot.

Not to pick on you, charmingly named t43597, but what is with people picking Gurgess?

    Spoiler:

I mean, he's older than sedimentary rock, coming back from majorly weird arse surgery and he was only ever a 38 point scorer. And they want $350k

Is there something I'm missing? Is he on penalties? Are we expecting a lot of 40-20s?

Cause I just do not get this.

I think Gurgess is having an Alvaro effect on some people. Stop gap measure, will play 30-40 mins and hoping for 1ppm. Not 100% convinced
