What was the reason people thought Cotter would play 13 ?

I think people on the Cowboys forum (or whatever it's called) were expecting it to happen with Lolo at 8.

I also think anyone picking Cowboys forwards need to be wary that a few losses (which is likely) will bring about the Payten merry-go-round that happened last year

I dunno. Fantasy hope? I was just hoping more people would be trapped.

Lolo is appetising but sensibly might be a wait and see to figure if he's got his Mojo back.

They have the best draw the first 10 rounds of any team. Just Roosters and Parramatta as likely contenders in those rounds.

I reckon Cowboys will see an improvement this year. Will probably finish with a .500 record or there abouts and float around the 10,9,8 spot for most the year.

I reckon Townsend is exactly who they need to steer the ship and Dearden is a much better all round player than Drinkwater in terms of defence, attack, kicking, footy smarts. Get Lolo healthy and playing big minutes with guys like Hammer, Drink (if plays fb), Tualagi, Holmes, Hiku running around the field I think they see some success this year.

    Re: Lolo

His vaccination status remains "private" so no one actually knows if he is vaccinated, and although he had Covid in the off season he could possibly still get it during the year.

On Covid, are we expecting if a player gets it they go into lockdown for a week or two?

No draw is a good draw when you're one of the worst couple of teams in the comp.

(They did look a lot better than last year at the weekend, but it was a trial so who knows?)

I reckon any player who gets Covid will miss a week (unless they get properly ill with it). Shouldn't be the biggest ever deal for fantasy unless it blitzes an entire team (and most have been blitzed already) or if there's a new variant.

Its better than having 6 of the first 10 games against Roosters, Penrith, Storm, Eels, Manly, Souths.

The lack of declaration that he is vaccinated and carefully chosen wording by both team announcements and a strong reluctance to say anything further on it in interviews clearly means he isnt vaccinated and getting a 4 month exemption. Likely gets him through to End of April, as most teams had it spread through end of Dec.

Would rather he got covid again and another exemption, than need to sit out all games in QLD and VIC.

He's a lock not a fullback. Flicking through his scores there doesn't seem to be a noticeable amount of difference between his scores against the good teams and the bad teams. His highest scores last year for example were against the Roosters and the Rabbitohs (and admittedly the Broncos).

I like Lolo. 60+ point player priced at 50 after a down season. Either that or he's not what he was and sub-50 is the new normal.

The original statement wasn't specific to Lolo "I also think anyone picking Cowboys forwards need to be wary that a few losses (which is likely) will bring about the Payten merry-go-round that happened last year"

More likely impacts guys like Nanai and Luki.

    Yeah, fair enough.

I'm touch and go on Nanai. They have a lot of edges and Payten does like a tinker, and I wouldn't be that confident it doesn't happen even after one or two losses.

Probably the 2 form forwards of the trials have been L. Leilua (into everything) & Nikora (already a nice combo with Hynes). Probably cost related is why we don't have them in our teams but I am tempted to try & fit them in.

Adam Reynolds and Kobe Hetherington positive RAT tests. Awaiting PCR's. (7 day's out if positive). Round 1 in 8 days..

Actually the Broncos post says both would be unavailable for round 1 if they return positive on PCR (would seem likely.......)

I started with Lucy last season. Was exactly the same in the trials, then didnt get enough ball in the regular season. Decent for a solid 50 each week. Never going there again.

Lots of value on EDG, Tuilagi, Nanai, Katoa, Wilton, Bullemor, Lawton (waiting to hear how long Haumole is out for), and a guy you dont want to miss in Fifita.

I cant see Nikora reaching gun status, good for mid 40s where he is priced, even if he hits a 50 average, you need to replace him at some stage.

Different position, but for $70k more you could get Lolo, where it is harder to find playable value.
