I've been trying to figure this out also. A counter argument: Let's say you start with Ipap, and by rd8 you've accumulated enough funds to turn Nanai into Crichton. Do you really want to buy a guy who's going to miss 2-3 games in the next few weeks? Alternatively you start with Crichton, by round 8 you have the funds to turn Nanai into Ipap, an excellent idea given he's a gun who'll only miss one game the rest of the year. That then gives you the option of trading out Crichton over origin should you wish, whereas in the previous example you wouldn't trade in a player in rd8 only to trade them out over origin. Right?

    Advantage Angus??

I do love this way of thinking, but wouldn't it be better in round 8 to get another 60pt scorer who won't play origin rather than Crichton at that point? Meaning starting with Ipap and getting this hypothetical 60ppg non origin guy saves you a trade over getting Crichton at all

So it's AFB, Nanai, Pappy vs Lolo, Fifita, Berry?

Tough one but I'm probably taking the option with Fifita.

Its a team without Cleary, should be able to fit in AFB, Lolo, Fifita, Pappy. My draft has 3 of these plus Cleary

With Fog out do we expect more minutes for Starling or

Hodson to get more minutes as experienced playmaker to help out rookie?

Simpkin is the safe play here. You ride him for the 4-6 weeks Liddle is out, he plays 60mins and makes a bit of cash regardless. If Starling is getting a favourable role for the Raiders/Hodgson goes down, you can trade to him because they're still the same value. If Starling gets a 30 minute role off the bench, then once Liddle returns you just trade Simpkin down to a cow

Agree and if he’s back I’ll be looking at Tohu around this time.

iPap averages specifically as starting 2RF
    2021: 65 in 70 mins
2020: 41 in 74 mins - this was the season he came off the bench as lot, presumably as a MID, so small sample
    2019: 44 in 78 mins - almost exclusively 2RF
    2018: 44.5 in 75 mins - almost exclusively 2RF, excluded a 7 min game (injury assumed)
    (mins rounded down)

That's what I was looking at. Even with the qualitative factors in your last para, it's an extraordinary leap. From average fantasy stats for the position to the 2nd highest scoring fantasy forward

Sure but there is a lack of representative sampling there. 2020. 2018/19 then 2020; and 2021 are not really comparable. The Warriors were well down the leader in 2019 and Papalii missed the bulk of their 5 game winning streak to start 2018 when they just snuck into the 8. 2020 Papalli played primarily at MID in 2020, with variable minutes in a team that finished 11th.

I get your attempt at comparison, but I believe that 2021 is really the only comparable year. A solid run in a quality team near the top of the table and a tole as an strike attacking EDG. No attacins stats at all at the Warriors previously and not something that was expected from him or in the game management plan.

An optimal non-origin 17 looks something like:
    Mahoney
    McInnes Lolo Tapine
    Harris Jackson
    C. Walker Hughes
    Burton Bird
    Hynes Walsh Garrick (lol)

    Cheese iPap Curran Douehi

Except for the WFBs and missing Cleary, it isnt far from a complete keeper squad. You could definitely move towards this by round 13

I think we see a small handful of players who boomed in 2021 come back to the pack a little this season.

We will see more penalties once again, due to the six again change, as well as negatives for six agains added to the system.

Obviously TBs have been nerfed, but how much does the six again rule change affect the game overall? The guys with the biggest motors should theoretically come back to the pack (slightly), while guys like taumalolo may get back to their best with the advantage of that little bit of extra breath here and there.

It is just me... I always thought his name referred to his teleportation vortex, which is why he lied hanging out with the rest of us in League 51. With the name change I am expecting some stellar GIF parties emerging this year

Correct...no need to answer the question my sources tell me it's just north of 79 mins

Also, I like the sound of Dfita and given the triumphant re-emergence of the OG Fifita I think some demarcation is called for (By the way this is going to be a bigger story than the return to the ring of Vince McMahon)
