Need to likely sell one to get a second mid for this round.

Think it would come down to team balance and current bye coverage mate. Both keepers with Robson #3 hooker and Moses #4 half.

Assuming you have Hopgood as #1 mid, it'd be pretty sideways or even backwards to go to any of the other options, so would want to have a dozen or so trades to do that.

Moses misses more games due to byes - 16, 18, 19, final round 27
    Robson misses 16, 19 and 24

Not really sold on NAS but the options are slim. Need to get down into the numbers.

Good point. Probably a good tie breaker.

rhinoceroo wrote:Ok... opinions please. After trading Ford to Hynes have 330k in the bank. 11 for Rnd 16 (missing hooker and centre), 5 players on R16 bye, 9 for R19 (missing hooker, centre, 2 WFBs). Cursing Tino for murdering Api with Cook and Robson caught in the crossfire.

Two choices, both of which will leave me with 12 this week

    Option 1.

Tatola to Simpkin. Oloapu to Payne Haas next week.

Pros: moneymaking from Simpkin, gets closer to final 21 by bringing back Haas early. Will leave a bit of bank to help other final upgrades.

Cons: Playing at least one short.in R17. Gamble on Haas continuing to get big minutes during Origin. Don't really need a cow (team value 14.4m already), no centre cover at all and low on back cover generally. Already carrying several Origin players

    Option 2

Tatola to Simonsson. Oloapu to Boyd next week.

Pros: More scores thanks to theoretically full team in R17 and 11 instead of 10 for R19. Boyd should score better than Simpkin in R19. DPP of both ins could be useful.

Cons: Will need to get Haas at some point. Boyd not a keeper. Exhausts most of bank. Leaves MID cover low. Already have two hookers, just that they don't play the byes now.

(Just writing it down it seems like option two makes more sense despite looking less sexy. Squad before this trade in case there are other suggestions)

    Cook
    Hopgood Horse JDB
    Difita iPap
    Hynes DCE
    Manu Lemu
    Ted Drinky Bula

    Robson Preston Sorenson SJ
    Ponga Oloapu Makatoa (Ford)

The way the season has played out with byes, injuries and suspensions you need a much better 18th and 19th man than previous years. I know you are around the pointy end so you want the best 17 possible on the field but I think between now and round 20 your middles can match Haas unless he has a monster. The extra depth is likely to help over the new few weeks

The crippling realisation that out of Tapine, Moses, and Robson the best trade option this round is Moses even though you brought him in last round while role playing as an origin selector Crying or Very sad

Will it be Toa or Matterson to have the better score while moonlighting as an NRL half

I think I'm just gonna do IKat to Turpin and then hope DFifi backs up next week and get him for Dedwards. Tapine to NAS is too much of a luxury with my remaining trades, and Simpkin is too much of a headache in round 17. Will give me 12 this week and 16 next week. Grim

Hopefully this is the decision of someone who gets fantasy

Obbeats wrote:Hi guys. New to Fantasy this year - started in round 5 so a bit behind in points and salary cap, but feel like I'm doing pretty well considering the handicap. Been lurking the forum the past few weeks.

My team looks like this right now:

    Turpin
    JFH, Fainu,
    Hopgood
    Hynes, Oloapu
    Billy Smith, Manu
    Bula, ponga, Drinky

Harris, tatola, te whare, hands, Robson, timoko, lemuelu, jdb, Moses, Okunbor

I'm planning on trading Moses to IPap and Okunbor to a mid. At this point leaning toward Matto or maybe another MID. Then I'll be all set up for 16, 17, 19 and 20.
Was looking at other MID options - is there any reason people aren't talking about Josh King? He seems pretty consistent in minutes and scoring this year.

Edit: just noticed someone mentioned him at the top of this page. 😅

5 on bye and 2 Origin players next week isn’t too bad compared to some?

Which one of Fifita / Cook / Robson would you trade out for Turpin?

Fifita pockets the most cash and will likely be brought back in at a plummeting price. The others will likely not be brought back in if traded out

Anyone got predictions on how the last third of the year plays out with rankings etc.

I’ve had a stinker and am sitting around the 10k mark. Im banking on most people navigating byes poorly, and relying heavily on trades. Hoping that most won’t be able to trade their way back to full strength post origin.

Alot of people will be looking to bring back some biggies like Haas, yeo, grant and chin. That takes up most of the trades people have left prior to dealing with byes. Leaving only the extra 8 trades to survive the last few rounds. Those extra trades are probably enough to stop peoples team falling off a cliff.

Would definitely keep Fifita as he only theoretically misses origin weeks.

Robson and Cook both miss an extra so toss a coin (I'd probably keep Cook)

Edit : Cook actually misses one more so probs gotta be him

Would have to be Cook with the rd20 bye in addition to origin (raiders and dragons also on bye plus origin backup could make that a troublesome week for some). But if you are low on trades I'd probably just hold them all. Turpin is going to need 2 trades.

Who are the highly owned players we reckon holding from now is less than ideal? Thinking SOO players whose bye line up terrible. Moses comes to mind assuming he plays game 3. Fifita, if he gets reduced minutes ok back up games?

Thanks guys. Seems Cook is logical

I do want Grant next week so getting rid of a HOK now to get a HOK later seems good for balance. If I traded Fifita then I’d have 4 hookers (Grant Robson Cook Turpin)

Don’t think Fifita will just plummet in price and can be bought back cheaper?

I’d have 3 trades, plus 8, once I make this one though lol jocolor

Fifita could have 2 more minute affected games in 17 and 20?
If your team is stacked enough to put him into EMG if need those weeks you could hold him?

Getting very short on trades and painted myself into a Rd17 corner. Still want Simpkin though, and want K Haas next week.

Thinking of Simpkin in for Cleary this week, Kleese in for Burbo (unless Burbo is back) next week, which will leave me with 4 trades and 920k ITB to work with until the trade top-up.

    Rd 16 (11 scorers)

    Simpkin,
    Hopgood, -, -,
    Bateman, Luki
    Hynes(C), Ponga/Oloapu loop
    Ramien, Manu
    Drinkwater, To'a, Bula

    Rd 17 (14 scorers)

    Woolford
    Haas, Carrigan, Horse
    Hopgood, Luki
    SJ, Boyd
    Manu, -,
    Drinkwater, Ponga, -,

    Harris, Stone, Kleese, -,

Best Team (ignoring byes) - Players in Red to upgrade pre rd20, in Orange post rd20

    Boyd,
    Haas, Harris, Horse
    Bateman, Hopgood
    Hynes, SJ
    Manu, To'a
    Drinkwater, Bula, Ponga

    Carrigan, Luki, Stone, KHaas
    Simpkin, Oloapu, Woolford, Ramien
