He's probably got 5 years max as an elite NRL player with that approach IMO

Seems like good enough grounds to go on a Fantasy blacklist.

I imagine if Adam Doueihi had the same philosophy he would be medically retired by now (possibly a few years ago).

Probably will get slammed, but I think it's a good pick.

He can actually coach, so that's a good start

Then you get the Fittler, Johns, and all those ex-player types in to help with culture and whatnot.

"The blues are always in the game"

Probably comfortably the best coach that NSW will have had in a decade, but also suspect Slater is better

    Onya Madge I like it.

On another note Keaon has extended with us a 2 yr extension for 25 and 26. Great news.

    Hey guys.

What a Grand Final, was epic.

Anyway, just dropping in. As you folks know I have a cat, my cat is old, almost 16.5 years now. He's been having seizures for around 1.5 years now, they aren't sure why, can find out but means transporting him somewhere and around $3-$4K for the scan, so no lol.

Anyway, a week or so ago I noticed something was a bit iffy with him, ended up taking him to the vet today. I last went a month ago and he got a glowing report for his age, he even put on weight which is rare for a cat of his age. Today, bad news. He has a tumor in his stomach somewhere, this wasn't there a month ago and they are surprised by how big it is for only a month. This has nothing to do with the seizures, but everything to do with how he's been feeling the past week or so. Vet essentially said he probably be gone by the end of the month, it's not unheard of to live a bit longer, but really extremely unlikely to see the year out. Feeling his stomach now if you wanna imagine it is essentially like being bloated/a balloon.

We are going to put him to sleep on Saturday, I'm gutted. This came out of nowhere, and I think that's the hardest bit, it's not like it was "He's got x wrong, probably got a year left". His senses (Sight/Hearing at least) seem perfect, he's somewhat "Healthy" - Except he obviously isn't.

I just wanted to post here and probably will in a few other places too.

Don't really know what to do, he's just sleeping in his new favourite box with a cushion in it, has had a bit of water/food.

Going to bed now, thanks for reading Smile

Hey mate I’m so sorry to hear that we get so attached to them too it’s not good. I have Silky she’s a 15 yr old Russian Blue me and my Sister aren’t on big wages but we have spent a fortune on her. She has chronic kidney disease and has been having a daily fluid injection at the vet the last 4-5 years. She also needed a blood transfusion to save her life about 3 years ago it cost $4000 between me and my Sister. We have spent so much on her on medications, ultrasounds, tests etc….. but we love her so much so we do it.

Anyhow she has been losing weight the last year or so never been a big cat but they think she has low cell lymphoma they said at the time. And it’s proving they are right she’s been on oral chemo the last 3 months or so a low grade one. Anyway you can feel all her bones now she’s down to 3.29kg so not much but the decline now is fast. She’s not in pain that we know of just not playing anymore seems more lethargic appetite decreasing etc……… no vomiting or diarrhoea yet. Some months ago she went off all food and the specialist at Roseberry animal hospital said to try her on a venison diet as well and she’s since been eating that.

But yeah I lost Nanna earlier this year now it looks like Silky will go too. Last week a work colleague of mine died as well I jist attended his funeral on Tuesday. Dad health isn’t good either he’s mentally quite ill and he might need heart bypass surgery soon. Tbh I just feel really low and it’s been getting me down.

I’m sorry mate and can relate to your situation as well. I don’t know what I can say. Spend every second you can with her/him before Saturday. And don’t feel guilty you are doing the right thing I feel. Please know my inbox is open too mate. Life sucks sometimes like this year.

P.s Silky feels quite bloated around the tummy that would be the cancer/tumours in the bowel.

    Morning Rabs,

Such beautiful care you and your sister have taken of Silky, and such commitment. Our cats sound somewhat similar and would most likely get along. I think one thing I've been thinking about is it's important to still have things to look forward to in life, as it helps take your mind off the negativity.

Sounds like you're going through a bit of a rough time right now, so make sure to try and stay positive if you can, easier said than done though.

Finch, sorry to hear about your cat. Hope you can enjoy the last few days with your cat and that it goes as stress free as possible tomorrow. This place will be a bit dead now that footy seasons over but there's normally someone around if you feel the need to vent

Rabs you seem to have had a tough year for you and your family, the stuff that you've posted about here is enough to get anyone down. I hope things start improving for you

Hey mate, sorry to hear. Always sucks towards the end of a pets life. Gope youre doing ok.

Fwiw our dog (only 6 years) was given 'no more than a month' to live, after scans discovered huge tumour looking things in his lungs. Told there was no point doing anything as it looked 'so advanced'. Was pretry devastating at the time as we'd already lost a 2 year old dog earlier in 2022.

That was 12 months ago now and hes still going strong and living a happy life.

Actually contacted the specialist last week to say 'hey so hes still soldering on'.. havent even heard back from them lol

    Thanks everyone

We've decided Tuesday is the day, booked it in 4 or so hours ago. Sigh. Have been really upset about it all. So he's got basically 65 hours left, blimmin heck.

There's one thought running through my mind and I cant shake it. Cat is going to think "Ahhh, this is a nice nap. I'll go for a quick one, wake up in an hour and have some more food" - Except he will never wake up.

I wish I could tell him what's happening.

I don't even really know what to do, I'm just staying home essentially, but I think I might go out tomorrow for a few hours, although I feel a bit guilty for doing so. If I'm at home I'm just stuck in a loop, but at the same time I feel it's "unfair" of me to go out, have fun, have food etc.
