I cant recall anyone scoring well next to Hunt, it is like being next to DCE.

Keiran Foran's dad wasn't the coach of Manly... Didn't Lomax have a bit of a dry spell kicking goals a while back... i wonder if Flanagan has another goal kicker he might consider?

As mattNZ has said, the answer is probably not, but I think there is a little value.

Flanagan is priced at 25, and therefore needs to average 35 to be worth having (or at least close to that).

Last season he averaged 33.2 in 9 matches when starting at either 5/8 or halfback, so it's not far off. The previous year, he averaged 32 playing 20 matches at halfback.

In the last two seasons, he has averaged 99.8 and 77.6 kick metres per game respectively, while Matt Burton averaged 353.1 and 431 kick metres per game, similar to what Ben Hunt averaged in kick metres in the last two seasons (391.4 and 424.1).

TLDR: There is some value but more like 7-8 points rather than 10 points of value, so he's a borderline pick. If there aren't many better options he may be worth it but I can't say I'm exactly a big fan.

Flanagan had a pretty shit role at Bulldogs. Looked like he was told to tackle and pass the ball early, never run it.

Not sure there is another half in the comp that ran just 52 meters per game last season.

Lol, just checked and it was record running meters for all his seasons. Never mind about upside potential.

He has a career average at 5/8 (running 53 metres per game) of 38, which might suggest being 13 points undervalued. Much of those games were played with Chad Townsend as a dominant half, and he did not kick goals for all of those games.

If he kicks goals over Lomax - he would be hard to ignore.

It's the official start of the 'Flanagan wasn't that bad, it was all the coaches fault*' nrlf pre season revival right here.....he'll score 35 for the first couple of rounds and then trail off to inconsistent scores between 18 & 35. He'll make about 80k

*To be fair to him this is sort of true as in he's been shafted a bit and he's not quite as bad as everyone says but he's by no means good. He is what he is which is a fringe first grader/good NSW cup player.

Once you get tarred with the 'it's all his fault' brush it's pretty hard to come back from that bad PR - see Luke Brooks who is a much better player.

He's always been a pretty good goalkicker even if he's an average player and Lomax is flaky with the tee. Might be that they don't want to give Flanagan the pressure of GK along with his general game but chances are a lot higher than zero.

How many goals the Dragons get to kick with that lineup might be a bigger question.

Dragons can’t take a trick that massively hurts their depth Flanagan has an enormous task ahead coaching them.

Hmm. I now have no interest in Flanagan.

I had and promoted Hands last season. I didn't enjoy it.

Anyone foresee a brighter 2024 for him?

Take out his interchange games and his 28 minute stint and he gets a 40.7 AVG. BE of 30.

Think he banned me last year for a mild quip

You can smell the stink of desperation coming off him through the screen

I reckon just pretend he doesn’t exist…it’ll be way more irritating

He’s much too busy anyway making all those amazing stats
