Haven't seen much about Garner. Is he worth a shout? Or is the concern that Sorensen comes back and steals his spot? I've currently got him on the bench but feel I can probably use that money to beef up a centre spot instead.

I think Sorensen was injured and it's still his spot.

What’s your plan B if the Parra HOK job is shared? Same with Weekes /Strange -they are both competing for the same spot. Salmon gets Mid if named at lock so that covers your mid issue -the only problem with that is Curran could still get that spot instead.
I'd probably downgrade Hunt to SOS and get Liddle or someone at HOK. Or just downgrade Lussick to Levi if named. Or just leave Lussick in there and assume he gets enough time to be worthwhile (he's really just my backup HOK anyway). Weekes/Strange/Salmon/Bostock/Mikaele are all expendable - they'll be whoever is named in TLT B.

Anyway, just wanted to give a shout out to all of the contributors here. It's amazing to see such a wealth of knowledge in one place year on year, not just about the ins and outs of fantasy, but about rugby league in general.

He had 4 offloads in both trial gamesMilchcow wrote:
I know Matt will pick Mikaele anyway, but bench guys with high PPM are very often not good fantasy picks.
The 61 in the first trial was off the back of 4 offloads. That is more offloads in 1 game than he made in 2022 + 2023 combined (7 games) and likely in a lot ore game time
Finefeuiaki scored 52 in the same trial, and he's just as likely to get minutes as Mikaele this year
Maybe the bonus point incentive spurred him on?
Anyways, with Hess out for the season there is a higher chance of a bench spot and 20 to 30 mins, and I guess it only take another 60 point game to get some good cashflow at 260k...

Just as an footnote to my 'let's all live together in harmony' comment.
I am fully supportive of robust & ill mannered debate on the merits or otherwise of particular players....that's what the forum is all about.
It's more the unsolicited critique of someone's draft where you treat them as if they have put no thought into it because they don't have the same team as you.
That's it.......oh wait, it's definitely Burbo's year this year, he is the new Preston

As with every year, struggling with the centre position so looking outside the box. I've seen him mentioned, but not really discussed...Montoya at $417k? Seems to be in that happy medium between base price option discomfort and high priced gun.
Kick return base is OK?
Increased attacking potential outside RTS?
Only 9 tries in 2023 for a quality team
Dual CTR/WFB
Reasonable to expect improvement?
Worst case scenario he averages 30, which is what hes priced at?
EDIT: If he was on SJs side he'd be straight into my team...do the wahs swing their attack toward RTS' left side a bit more this year?

Hey mate, welcome
Montoya's on my shortlist with Suli and Simonsson if I need to change from Xerri and Strange.
Bit of a prayer.. Career average of 27.5 on the wing and no early injury games. Just a handful of ~70 mins amongst all the 80 mins.
Most recent years averages at WG are: 30, 27 and 30 at Warriors. Not too pretty at Dogs either, probably like 25-26 at a glance combining all the seasons.
Just that he's one of the cheaper CTR/WFBs around and hoping RTS sets him up.. but I'll probably have to go with Suli and Simo (also has dual), unless it's the difference between Hopgood or no Hopgood.

Hearing Max Plath might slot in at lock for the Dolphins. Will get dual HB and Mid if so. Good player. Beefed up. Likes a tackle and can score tries. New contract extension until '26. I'm picking him. If he doesn't get named I've got $500k to spend next week.

None at all. Doesn't have the base stats to score well for a half. Unless he come out and takes all reyno and walsh's kicking meters. There's no value.

What about Burbo being shit?
Trent Loiero is one of the worst rugby league players I’ve ever seen and averaged 43. I’ll never turn down a cheap starting edge

The thing about Cheapies is that if their value if less than 250k, they are still priced at 250k. Ben has regularly returned 20 ish points from 80-minute games on the EDG. He has never averaged high enough to begin any season above 250k. His highest-ever value was 316k based on a one-off 2-try game, and this rapidly disintegrated back down to base price a few games later. There is no indication that Siebold plans to give him 80 minutes consistently - and everything the coach has publicly suggested that he is back to being a 20-minute-per-game benchie in Round 2.

Scored 15 tries in regular season and averaged 33. Not a hope in hell of making my team
Didn’t score above 40 once without a try
