pm888 wrote:OK with the byes coming up real close I guess the most common issues for us players is the Smith and Parcell combo conundrum. We all want friend in at some point in the final 17, so the question is when is the best time to bring him in, maximise his bye schedule and also account for parcells money to be made.

I am leaning towards a Smith to friend trade rd 13. If they both average 65, friend will score 325 by round 18 vs smiths 260. parcell, if he keeps averaging 50 will slowly move up to 500k value by the time origin is over and will post 250 because he plays one round.

This has a lot of assumptions. Smith could play less minutes or be rested for some games. I'm not sure about the history over this period.

Smith to friend, then parcell to smith rnd19 you will gain 100k and 10 points but you will lose an extra trade (2trades total).

the other alternative is parcell to friend (rd13) and hold smith. which will mean you spend 1 trade lose 10 points. but more importantly lose the opportunity of gaining that 100k.

This depends on whether parcell will make 100k in 6 weeks, perhaps someone can do the maths but that how i see things at the moment. Feel free to add or criticise this

This idea intrigued me so I thought I would crunch some numbers.

Assumptions: Friend and Smith avg 65 and Parcell averages 50. Smith doesn't get rested.

Option 1. Hold Smith and bring in Friend for Parcell for round 13. During rounds 12-19 your hookers make 715 points, one trade required.

Option 2. Hold Smith and bring in Friend for Parcell for round 17.  720 points, one trade required.

Option 3. As you suggested trade Smith to friend for round 13 and Parcell to Smith for round 19. 705 points two trades required.

Now you might make some money with option 3, but I'm not convinced it'll be all that much. using Milchy's price estimator, If Parcell keeps his 5 round avg of 52 up, he'll only be about 440k by round 18, and that's if Korisau doesn't steal minutes. It's not worth an extra trade IMO. Thoughts? Seems to me from this exercise, you just keep Smith and get Friend in when you can.

Edit, and the bulk of that cash you would get with option 2 anyway.

My bye strategy is heavily reliant on Bhana, Asiata, Bowen and Feeney suiting up over Origin. I guess Feeney's too much to ask for, but I am still holding a candle for the other three.

Fucking annoying that Bhana didn't get named this week. He was quite eager and busy on the weekend, not sure why he keeps getting dropped.

I know! How bad/disliked do you have to be to not get selected in the top 19 players of the injury demolished Knights? Crazy.
And to think I traded him in instead of Bateman when I was tossing up between the 2, thinking that Bhana would have better job security. I still want freaking Bateman.

In other news, somebody talk me out of trading in Bateman. No

Interested to hear what JSaifiti owners are doing this week.

Would really hope he doesn't play this week (heard he's very much in doubt) as he'll likely drop a lot of $$$. Know he plays r12 but if he misses this week then it gives me options next week to swap him at his current price for a cheapie

Is it even worth trading this week?? Best to just cruise and see what happens in the bye round?

NRL.com saying scans clear, sprained ligaments. Lara Pitt jumped the gun it seems, or got given bad intel.

Read a few different articles today saying he's been cleared of that but still in doubt for this round (as mentioned). Did you see something today which said it was broken?

edit: thanks SI, hopefully it's a 1 week injury

I agree. Friend and Leilua have been pretty much the only 2 decent players in my crappy team all year, and now everyone jumping aboard.

Mooper with 50 to 60 minutes at Lock should be a good swap for JDB; pockets you 110k as well.

It's a pity Aubbs couldn't grab a few more points last week. I think I have to sell him this week or lose a stack of cash. My plan was cash out to Asiata, but I don't know what's going on there. Cowboys forum scratching their heads too. I was hoping Aubbs could wait until round twelve team lists were out.
