Whlst I love the Carter award, my anal retentiive nature has had issues with the adhoc nature of it.

So I've just gone through to find the "real" winner of the Carter award. The person who has generated the most negative stats each round], in absolute terms. No room for subjective judgement or giving people added weight for being popular fantasy players

    So here they are
Rd 1 Jeff Robson -18 points (Paul Carter -16)
    Rd 2 Luke Keary -20 (Paul Carter -8 )
Rd 3 Josh Jackson -20 (Paul Carter -20)
Rd 4  Danny Levi -22 (Paul Carter -12)
Rd 5 Jacob Saifiti -22 (Paul Carter 0)
Rd 6 Gareth Widdop -20 (Paul Carter -10)
Rd 7 Bryce Cartwright -24 (Paul Carter -2)
Rd 8 Tom Symonds -18 (Paul Carter -12)
Rd 9 Mitch Rein -22 (Paul Carter 0)
    Rd 10 Paul Carter -26
Rd 11 Mitchell Moses -24 (Paul Carter -12)
Rd 12 Luke Brooks -18 (Paul Carter 0)
Rd 13 Sam Burgess, Agnatius Paasi -18 (Paul Carter -12)

The overall Carter award for the year goes to James Maloney, with -152 points this year. Hasn't won a weekly yet but gets there through consistency.

Carter ranks 4th. Obviously he'd rank higher if he wasn't so good at conceding points that he got dropped from first grade.

    Top 10
    James Maloney -152
    Mitchell Moses -138
    Luke Brooks -134
    Paul Carter -130
    Bryce Cartwright -126
Ben Hunt -122 (this doesn't include last night)
    Jamie Soward -116
    Shaun Johnson -114
    Josh Jackson -114
    Anthony Milford -114

    Great stats.
Interesting top 10 stats to note:

3 players are either in or close to the NSW squad.
Both Broncos halves are in there and these are the only QLD players.
7 halves, 3 second rowers (1 also fills in at hooker). No props, centres or outside backs.
9 Australians and one kiwi. No other nations represented.
Maloney and Milford the only players to feature with more than two syllables in either first or second name.
Ben dropped the ball in the grand final to lose his team the game. Irrelevant but always worth reminding people.

Yeah mate, thinking it is worth it only if he is starting centre (Not named on the bench) His BE doesn't matter as he wont be traded out.
Can wait until the final team list is announced, so will see what happens but could be worth a dice roll.
Completely goes against my normal thought process and planning, and the fact he hasn't scored well in a long time and is a bit out of shape playing in the hot humid northern weather.

Purely based on a gut feeling he will be out to prove a point and that equals Tackle Breaks & Offloads.
Low to medium risk, only thing holding me to wait is if he doesn't get named or is on the bench

best single trade Parcell to Friend, the week he scored 82. Thank you!
    I can't believe: I Captained Tedesco for his 94.

I wish I started with: Graham. I always pick him Round 1 but this time I didn't
my genius pick: Nothing stands out. Maybe having Fifita from the very start. My pick of Aubo in the CTR's eventually paid off to a degree.

best single trade Manaia Cherrington to Craig Garvey

I can't believe: I've had two people that I've ditched then gotten back in then taken out again - DCE and (soon to be) Mitchell

Oh Jesus. This is embarrassing... Embarassed

I wish I started with: A bit of a clue what the hell this fantasy business was all about.
my genius pick: Leilua, I guess. Him, Fifita, Barba and Kata are the only 4 scorers I have left from my original team Embarassed
worst single trade: So many. Way too many. Probably Coote to Koroibete after week 1, who I then traded back out after week 3. Not a single trade but gives a bit of an indication of the WTF nature of my first 4-5 weeks.
best single trade Ennis to J Friend, Rnd 2.
I can't believe: How far I've come, after destroying everything for the first month, before actually taking the time to figure out what I should be doing.
Current rank: Not even going there.

    Anthony Milford -114

As far as I know the Carter award was named such because Paul Carter was the biggest klutz in the early rounds, he made heaps of missed tackles regularly, made the most basic errors and gave away some stupid penalties and because of this the name has stuck. Sure he won't finish the year with most negatives but he will be on our minds for being the biggest goose, idiot or whatever else you like to call him. Calling it the "Maloney" award just doesn't sit right. Without trying to calculate anything further I do wonder if Carter has the most negatives per minute played, that might be something to look at?

As for your calculations I wish you had done these earlier because that was the boring, most time consuming part, going over every stat in every game, it drove me bonkers. The Round 1 mistake will be fixed after this round, which Ben Hunt has a lead with -22

Alright, you bunch of winners. What's the deal with Mannering? I have enough in the bank to bring someone in for Packer this week. Is it considered that Mannering will be someone who can average 50+ (when playing Lock and when not having his face ripped open)?
I could afford anyone up to $500k (was also considering Bromwich or Bodene) but really need to keep as much cash as possible for a planned Tedesco purchase after Rnd 15. Consider that my current team value is probably at least half a mil less than yours (see my answers to Filth's mid-season review for context), and only really have Holland and Gordon left to sell, hence why I'm leaning towards the cheap guy.

Would you recommend Mannering? Do we think he's likely to score well against Newcastle?

With Holland, the more I look at him the more I want to fuck him off now.  I was completely against it earlier in the week but it is an easy way for me to get Cleary in and have 150k extra in the coming weeks.  Guthersen at centre makes it a little easier if he is there for a while (hopefully ups his base stats).  I have pretty good cover and DPP flexibility between WFB and C so might do it.

That makes sense with Semi. I remember Voss or one of the commentators saying his Dad was ill, so probably went home to visit.

Yeah, I want to fuck Holland off too, probably next week though I think. If Hurrell comes in it's a nice trade if he ulls finger.
