I don't like the rolling lock out either. I've mentioned this before the nrl should adopt the system re the english soccer. The full lock out occurs but you can rank your npr's that will come in as a.e's. If more than 1 player isn't named (as you don't even get team lists before lock out) you get multiple a.e.'s coming in as replacements. This current system where you get the lowest a.e.'s score is rubbish & the fact that you only get 1 player as an a.e. I also think stick to the current system re trades but if you want to do more than trades it costs you points or money. Again they do this in the english soccer where you get 1 trade per week but each additional trade costs you -4 points.

    1. I think you (and I) have missed the boat. He can't surely keep scoring tries, and if not he has pretty much peaked. Someone like PODene may not score AS well (though who knows!), but for 130k less I think your money is best spent on someone like him (or JDB if he starts big mins at lock now, but i'd watch this week for that first)
    2. I would give Milford a chance. Was playing so much better with Macca at 9, and I think his absence is missed more than people realize. For Milford to score well he needs attack stats, and he does this off the back of the Broncs playing well, which they will with McCullough controlling the ruck again. I think both Milford and Hunt will improve. I would trade Mbye, but maybe after round 18.

Full lockout was feasible 3-4 years ago, but the way things are now (Trent Barrett I'm looking at you) it's pretty tough for Fantasy to go back to the old system.

With the whole betting issue going on right now, we could see a lot strictly restrictions placed on the lineups that are announced each week. If that happens then the old system starts to be more relevant.
Though was rolling lockout FanHub's idea? Cause if it was they'll never go back to the full lockout...

That's why I got him a couple of rounds ago but he scores in a very inconsistent pattern. He'll score a couple of 30's then he'll score a couple of 50's & then can put out a huge score. I got him round 14=36, 15=39, 16=58. So now I'm hoping for another 50 this round & then a 80+ after that. Dreams are free haha.

solid advice, cheers. james has b/e of 53 which i imagine he will hit easily (providing no injury) oh well. want to squeeze mannering and bodene in, but will see how we go.

will be tough to hold both mbye and milford much longer, they just do my head/nerves in

Yep with Halatau starting at hooker & Farah on the bench & ET named at lock the signs are good. Also he's up against the Panthers so he'll be wanting to have a good one against his old club. I'd be surprised if he doesn't score 50+.

I want James in but fuck I really am paying for him.

Basically means Barba stays in my team for good

Mbye just scored 63 against the Broncs with 3 ta's. Over the last couple of rounds he's shown more intent on taking the defensive line on so I think he's getting out of his form slump. Also having the monster pack starting to hit form again & providing great go forward will help Mbye as well. I don't have Milford but I do have BHunt but don't worry cause after origin when the pack is firing again they'll come good again.

It's only my first year of fantasy, but I was really surprised they don't have a way of buying extra trades. The points deduction sounds good and would be good for idiots like me who are still trying to get the hang of the game, and have absolutely no chance of being competitive anyway.

At the very least I would have loved for there to be a rookie mode you could choose at the start which gives you extra trades, but rules you out of getting any prizes. I'm going to be out of trades horrifically soon because I had no idea what the fuck I was doing at the start, and it's going to be pretty depressing just to have to watch my team without being able to do anything for the last 6-8 weeks or so.

No point in having a contest when whoever spends the most will win it.
We all took our licks as rookies. You will be surprised how well you do next year.
My first year in I started Nathan Merrit. Couldn't believe how cheap he was. "He scores tries all the time!"
Next season when you have your head in the game, you will be glad they don't have an easy mode.

All we can hope for is to wait & hope he starts falling in price & becomes cheaper later on. However with him playing 80 minutes lately I don't think it'll happen. Friend's price only started to fall because he stopped playing 80.

Welshy hit it on nail on the head. You're paying for somebody to score 65-70. Sure he has been doing that lately, and that is why he is priced such. But no way he can keep it up. You are paying overs for him. Where did that Cubanslugsmafia guy end up going, he used to say it all the time: buy low, sell high. For 130k-150k less, PODene or Manners are so much better value. Value still exists when buying season keepers!

Team lists certainly are a joke at the moment, coaches love playing smoke and mirrors and seem to think they are tactical geniuses by doing so - so in that respect rolling lockout is beneficial if you are in a position to check team lists regularly.
But maybe the NRL needs to tighten the regulations around naming teams - perhaps make team lists later in the week, and have penalties for any unjustified changes (although that in itself could be difficult to police). Betting and fantasy are making a pretty penny for the game and the current system is a bit of a farce. Dont think it will happen in the near future but long term there will be a shift towards the US and UK models.

    Exactly.

Don't get me wrong he looks like maintaining a 58-60+ avg but you are not paying that for him atm

his base stats are fantastic though, if Merrin keeps getting 80 he is a great value pick up who plays all the byes. I want Merrin
