Wow!!!
I wouldn't go as far as saying it is the pinnacle of excellence and the yardstick of brilliance when it comes to finals systems.....but each to their own and obviously you are a massive fan of the system.

From memory you had like 1 or 2 games in week 1 when at best all they were playing for was home ground advantage in week 2 (couldn't get knocked out and couldn't get the week off). If two Sydney teams were playing, then you could quite reasonably get both teams resting mass players, or worse, intentionally trying to lose the game to get a better result, like those badminton players at the London Olympics.

Bennett's Whinge
“Whoever they are, five and eight will play here on a Sunday or Saturday or whatever. We deserve that. If we don’t know by Sunday if we should be back training by Sunday then we’ve missed a huge advantage.”
Finally a Bronco admits they have an advantage by playing on a Friday.
I don't understand what Bennett's problem is, he talks about player welfare being an issue and then wants to know who is going to play where and what time before the finals are even sorted out.
I'll give you a hot tip, Wayne. Like always you'll most likely have a saloon passage in the premiership and be playing Friday night.

Well since the Rah Rahs have Suncorp Stadium booked for the Boks test on Saturday night, you can rule that night out.
Not sure why the Dragons v Knights game wasn't scheduled for the Sunday night. When they released the draw that was always going to be the game with least impact on the finals.

Also has the least impact on the conversation at hand.
What the fuck does Bennett want?

Games are scheduled by 9/Fox to maximise ratings.
Impact on finals/crowds/anythign that isn't TV ratings is not a consideration.
Knights v Dragons have been given 3pm Saturday as befits the quality of the game expected
If they really wanted to do it properly they'd have every game in the last round played simultaneously.

Deflect attention away from their performances?

This is what they do in the states with the NFL pretty much.
Most games are played on Sunday's. They have a game of the week on a Monday night, a friday night game and occasioinally a tuesday night or sat night game.
What it means for tv viewership - The majority of the time - They play a super popular game a monday and friday, which the majority of fans watch. Then fans watch their specific team on a sunday and maybe another game because of the time differences across the states.
Its one way reduce the scheduling bias (possibly, prob heaps of holes in it). Each team also gets 1 bye throughout the season.
Play a monday night game and a friday night game then the rest at around the same time on a sunday / start at 2pm play a couple simultaneous and some throughout the arvo/night.
Personally, I could handle having no footy on a saturday and then be able to pick and choose which game/games I want to watch on a sunday.
Cons
It means I cant watch every game live
It means I have to prob buy a League subscription so I can watch a replay of any game when ever I want
It means I get fucking blind on a sunday and then call in sick on a monday
If I am at a pub, Its highly likely that I cant watch the team I support if I dont live in that town/city
Pros
Can help with the turnaround problems
High viewing numbers for the game of the week teams
High viewing numbers in certain areas for certain teams
I can do other stuff on saturday nights - i end up just looking up stats on saturday nights because im doing something so cant watch 3 live games anyway
Adding a team from perth may be more feasible with the time difference
Adding another team from NZ may be more feasible with the time difference
I am sure there are plenty more for both columns

y that the Broncs can fill a stadium any day of the week and therefore they get scheduled to play Friday nights whereas Knights fans couldn't fill your loungeroom bro?

You taking the piss mate? Surely the Knights have more fans turn up to their games then the Roosters.Mearcats wrote:

Hahaha, there's the banter I was looking for! When you've got a team that shit you can lay the blame on them all day, people expect nothing less!
