In the good old days the buffet at the Sheraton on the Park included pre-peeled prawns as part of the yum.

Nowadays the cheapskates make you peel your own prawns.

If you are a Starwood Preferred Guest they give out frequent 2 for 1 vouchers for the buffet there. Its pretty good value when you've got one of the vouchers.

As for Christmas we don't pre-order prawns either, just go on Xmas Eve and buy a couple kgs from the local fishmonger.

I don't normally use the word fishmonger.

Yup, I've seen us be unsuccessful the last decade. I've also seen us make the finals 23 out of 28 years in existence. Watched us pump the tigers by 50-0 on two separate occasions (93 & 99). The lack of a premiership ring is like an annoying little itch in comparison to our general level of achievement for me.

Once, back in 2010, the Tigers scored 10 points or more in 3 consecutive games. Reminiscing on such success also helps ease the pain of not winning premierships. We can all take solace in minor achievements.

I also remember back in the time when most of our salary cap was spent on players who actually played for the club. That was a fun time indeed.

A super idea would be to cull the Roosters altogether, start up a new club called the Flogbay Bugs. Soft and sweet. Perfect.

This might belong better in the TV thread, but I enjoyed "Hard Quiz" on ABC tonight. Nice mix of trivia and comedy (mostly in the form of Tom Gleason mocking the contestants)

Oh wait... were you talking about fish or illegal immigrants?

Raptis at morningside usually do good Christmas orders. Sammies girl at Hamilton is pretty good.

The trawlers on the spit are great but supply.can be an issue and I wouldn't risk it for Xmas.

Disgraceful effort to get to thread 51. Off topic - needs a mod to move to TV thread.

I was in Ballina last night and at dinner I overheard the table next to me talking seafood. They must be involved in the industry somehow. But they were saying that there's little local market for seafood as they can't get the prices that they can get via export market.

Same as our beef, unless you find a good local supplier you're only getting the rejects and offcuts. Real shame.

This has been the case for 50 years for any primary industry product (wool, meat, vegetables & fruit) any any industry that has thrived since open markets. Ask anyone who packs cargo for any major airline, the best shit goes overseas for the best price and secondary product is sold locally.

So Dufty for fullback next year sounds promising. But I don't like the idea of Dugan in the halves. Hopefully a smarter mind prevails and Dugan will stay in the centres or Fullback

They do, I assumed he was first choice but going from a few things said on twitter if Dufty and Dugan are in the spine Hutchenson will play off the bench

I'd ban you for such insolence, but that wounds just be hurting the pages 51 cause

A page 51 Broncos party just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Although could probably get some nice third party sponsors to put on a proper do for us, rather than just scouring the web for free gifs

Don't stress, we'll get this there, even if I have to spam the thread with watch and beer porn! (All safe for work, I promise).
