This probably just means more missed tackles at the end of the game when he gets tired.

Well then my hooker analysis was a waste of time it seems.

    Angus Crichton?

I'll probably pas on both due to lack of minutes but they are both good players. Afoa is a powerful tackle busting forward who scored 2 tries in 4 games. Crichton impressed averaging 9 metres per hit up off the bench.

With some of them changing clubs/roles/benches they may get more minutes (which we can't really know yet), but I thought I would analyse if the increase in minutes is likely to make much difference if they got them. The following is the average of hookers when they play 70+ minutes. (70 just seemed like a good number for some reason).

Luke: Avg 52.4 over 13 games, priced at 48.5 value 3.9
McInnes: Avg 58.6 over 8 games, priced at 50 value 8.6
McCullogh: Avg 51 over 10 games, priced at 45.2 value 5.8
Peats: Avg 49.4 over 7 games, priced at 44.8 value 4.6
Farah: Avg 58.3 over 4 games, priced at 45.9 value 12.4

Then the question is who is most likely to get 70+ minutes each week. Farah would seem to be great value but with the byes and origin would be hard to pick especially with Cook there. Those looking at McInnes might be on the money especially if Mcrone plays half.

    Thoughts?

I agree that Farah is risky. Even if he plays big minutes (which is certainly a possibility, despite Cook's presence) his byes are terrible for origin and he's a definite trade out at some point.
Bad origin byes are OK for a certified gun, but not a good idea for a risky pick with potential for downside.

I think there are arguments that can be made in favour of all the others. Depends on a few things like bench composition and pre-season form/injuries.
McInnes is the one that interests me most at this point of time, but lots can happen in the next 2 months to change my mind. I'm certainly not getting attached to anyone right now.

For those who are going without CS9 to start then probably the best hooking combo imo is Luke/McInnes. McInnes is not an attacking hooker but tackles his heart out like Macca. Since McInnes is now at the Dragons it should suit his game perfectly.
Personally I'm going Smith/King. I'd much rather have an extra frf/2fr than spend up on a 2nd hooker. If King plays 80 mins & in such an attacking team like the Eels he'll fit in well as that's his natural instinct to attack & run from dummy half.

I might start with Smith/McInnes as hookers, with the option to downgrade McInnes if a cheaper cashcow appears on the scene... I'll trade him out for the round 12 BYE

But as @Milchcow already mentioned... nothing is set in stone atm

Yeah, except for the fact that there will be two Sharks hookers now sharing time instead of just Ennis, although they did have Beale on the bench a lot last year.

    You never know.

Flanagan may prefer having an 80 minute hooker to replace Ennis and whoever gets the Hooking job may be getting it all to himself.

Whoever Hasler has at hooker is there to do the job by themselves, what says that won't also happen at the sharks. Has there been any actual reports from the Sharks as to hooking plans or is everyone just assuming they'll share because all their hookers have shared the role in the past?

I think its more to do with having inexperienced hookers available to them. Can't see any of them playing 80 min this early in their careers

Re the Sharks hooker situation. A dude on sc addicts who is a reliable source reckons Mortimer will get the gig but it's too early to know for sure. It doesn't look like Segeyaro will go there atm. So it comes down to Mortimer, Brailey, M. Cherrington or Nu Brown. The only one of those who plays 80 regularly is Mortimer but that was previously in the halves so switching to hooker I don't think he could handle 80 mins. I think they will have a hooker on the bench. Starting hooker 50 mins & bench hooker 30 mins.

What are this chances KFP owns this latest alt? Probably should have checked "Fantasy Fanatic Ultimate League Winner" wasn't locked to the IP address when creating a new account.
Don't need an excuse to play fantasy again KFP just do it.

What are the chances it is me? None at all. Random or SI can attest to that by doing an IP check. Plus the one alt I created on this forum I told Honeysett weeks before creating said account. I have not created one since Joey Johns and I dont have any plans of doing so in the near future. It is nice to know I'm in your mind during the off season. Thanks sweetie.

It's an issue with the forum I think, will have a look when I get home.

Related, people online are only showing on main page but not individual threads. Is it just me or everyone else. That is an issue for Random to start out as last year he said it was pretty complicated to do.

Either it's hard or he meant complicated by my level of IT competency...

I was thinking during the off season, I might go with 2 basement priced hookers in Cherrington and Ballin, but I'm not liking Ballin as much now he is 214K and has to share duties. I can't see him making me money now. Having a persistent injury did not worry me.

Great news for is, we didn't need another average second rower to add to the list.

If you aren't worried about injury, Ballin might still be worth it.

Depends on how ready they think Liddle is. But Ballin may start out playing 80, or at least big minutes (if he's fit)

Although Liddle will get a run sooner or later, and I think Ballin must be close to crocked after 2 big knee injuries in 2 years
