from everything I have read or listened to I think Ballin will only get 50min so in my books he has lost his appeal at 214k.

mulvy wrote:Been looking into hookers more (no not for filth's fun list ). With some of them changing clubs/roles/benches they may get more minutes (which we can't really know yet), but I thought I would analyse if the increase in minutes is likely to make much difference if they got them. The following is the average of hookers when they play 70+ minutes. (70 just seemed like a good number for some reason).
Luke: Avg 52.4 over 13 games, priced at 48.5 value 3.9
McInnes: Avg 58.6 over 8 games, priced at 50 value 8.6
McCullogh: Avg 51 over 10 games, priced at 45.2 value 5.8
Peats: Avg 49.4 over 7 games, priced at 44.8 value 4.6
Farah: Avg 58.3 over 4 games, priced at 45.9 value 12.4
Then the question is who is most likely to get 70+ minutes each week. Farah would seem to be great value but with the byes and origin would be hard to pick especially with Cook there. Those looking at McInnes might be on the money especially if Mcrone plays half.
Thoughts?
My thoughts on the hooker position:
- I'd be shocked if Roberts wasn't named on the bench for the Titans, I know Peats has been talking about the 80 minutes a lot but there's nothing new there. Limited up side for Peats I think.
- I won't be risking Farah this year, especially with the injury. Plus I don't think that he'll be able to do the amount of kicking he did at the tigers when he was an out and out gun. The tigers never had a Reynolds - hell we never had a Walker in our kicking game!
- I see why people are interested in McInnes, I don't see why it will work out any different to Rein, where McGreggor names a hooker with no utility on the bench in R1 and then proceeds to bend everybody over for the remainder of the year?
- I'm a fan of McCullough this year, I see him playing 80 minutes (60 hooker, 20 lock) with Arrow/McGuire playing 60 minutes at lock.
- I never ever pick Luke and I never ever regret it.
- Every year I pick Smith as my first player and proceed to captain him every week. I rarely ever regret it and will find it hard not to do the same this year.
- I haven't read much about Koroisau this year, with Manly booting Parcell (seriously WTF?), he could play big minutes (unless Hastings gets the bench spot)?
- There seem to be enough potential cashcows this year to go a gun and a cow at hooker - King (how long before he gets injured, the guy has to be a long shot to get through the pre-season and the first 5 rounds), Cherrington (I keep reading Morts is the favorite to get the gig, but this kid id too talented to play behind Morts). I don't think I'd be touching whatever the Tigers are doing at 9 (though in the non-hooker related stakes, I am really looking forward to Marsters getting a run this year - kid could be anything) and I don't think there's enough cash in Kostjasyn to warrant a bench spot.
I don't think there's much of a reason to expect much different from last year for the remainder of the lot pending injuries...

You're not far off to be honest, minus Tinder that's pretty bang on. Less drinking beer and more going the beach and surfing and you're on the money.
@filthridden if you've got time I would look at hitting up Feral and Mash breweries they're pretty amazing. You can take the misses to play some Supa golf and then "oh let's check out this little place" and that's Mash right next to it.
Otherwise if you're staying in Scarborough and just want to wet your whistle Scarborough Beach Bar is my place of choice. Nice priced food and good tap selection.
If you're heading down south do yourself a favour and check out Dunsborough and Yallingup. Some of the best beaches I've ever seen. Really great winery's down there as well that the misses might enjoy. Plus Eagle Bay Brewery has an absolutely amazing view while you have some food.
If you get a minute give me a shout and I'll come down for a beer.

has ET resigned with the Tigers? Wasn't there talk of them not wanting to renew his contract end of last year?

Overlooked ET, straight in now @ $399,000
discounting his injury affected R22 score, he averaged 48 over 14 games, and priced well below

I think we've got some points in us this year if injuries are kind. Not sure if ET gets more or less creative because of that, he certainly had some wonderful attack last year but also some games where he hardly touched it (from memory). He is on my short list and we have't really got any new forwards so roles/minutes shouldn't change much.
And he was deadset fucking woeful at his hooking stints so that should rule him out taking Halatau's role, thank fuck!

I that regard Liddle should be the bench utility but if he's not then probably JT's fave back up Lovett. If Lovett is on the bench AND NO LIDDLE that could be bad news for the backrow rotation when Ballin starts getting match fitness...
...or JT might play him at Centre again...

Always liked Taylor, always looks decent with the ball in the hand, good footballer at the warriors but turned into a tacklebot somewhat at the Panthers, hopefully he has some freedom to play a bit from lock like last year with the Tigers

Cannot believe he regressed so fucking far. Looked like he'd be one of the premiere second rowers in the comp back in 2013.

The last thing we need (as a tigers fan, forget fantasy) is for Lovett to come on for Ballin, with a team reshuffle sending Rankin to hooker

Fuck forgot about that! It was like 3 or 4 games too wasn't it? Which side does Idris play, as in, does Rankin even get a jersey?

Lovett is actually one of the few who's snagged DPP this year, not that this makes him an option.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
Been looking at some of the early team drafts and one thing sticks out.
Everyone's 2nd row is absolute garbage.
Early days and all teams will change as trials get underway, but a lot of people relying on the flimsiest of 2nd row cash cows.
We've been looking at hookers all week here, but it might be time to start looking at back row options

Idris is a better centre than Naiqama. Whether Taylor sees it that way is one thing. Another thing is whether that pushes Naiqama to wing or out of squad.
Wasn't Naiqama going to England? Anything ever come from that

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
Thought about this when going over my team, Reckon you need at least 2 nailed on scorers and can afford to use the 3rd starter and 1 scoring reserve on a Rookie-mid range option because its pretty easy to rack up points there, obviously only works if you hit on the right ones, but I think there is wiggle room with the 3 reservesMilchcow wrote:

Idris should be right centre with Simona on the left. Idris should get plenty of tackles as Moses's body guard. Good sign is that's the way the majority of Tigers attack went last year
