Some other Raiders news whilst i'm here, I'm sure that i read somewhere Baptiste was recovering better than expected (though I think that means he still misses at least half the year if not more), can't find it now though so maybe I'm making shit up. This photo though, doesn't look great.... poor bugger

Pretty concussions he was absolutely tearing it up in the second row. He's in my team, locked.

Jeez Chewie picking 3 Knights forwards in your team makes you a maverick my friend. Good luck.

Not sure on the Klemmer bit mate, short sample size but Klemmer averaged 48.5 when starting lock for the Dogs (13 games) only included 1 try as well
48.5 is only 3 higher than his average so he won't make any real cash and is a guarentee to play origin so is a definite trade out. Papalii is on the fringe of origin selection IMO
scott smith myles
cooper thaiday gillett
morgan mcguire guerra lillyman then you have the likes of ethan lowe, jarrod wallace, dylan napa all pushing for the 17 along with Papalii

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
New year, new dreams of NRL Fantasy glory.
Initial pricing seems to be making it a lot harder to get as many established guns as previous years?
My first of many drafts:
Smith, King
McGuire, Gurgess, Wallace, Hoare
Bodene, Tohu, Bolton, Sione, Lane, nuff
DCE, Norman, Elgey, nuff
Turbo, Idris, Scott, Kelly
RTS, Hayne, Uate, Pythian, Drew

Very nice team mate but no Surgess could hurt you since he'll have very high ownership & with the 2016 season & a full pre season under his belt I expect him to play big minutes & start the season on fire. Also I don't like the Uate pick as he played like a mug for the Knights but he could be a good pick if he busts out good trial form.

I look at stats, and potential increase in fantasy points and price. It often is the case that the teams that are in a rebuilding stage have more fantasy potential than the more established teams.
The raiders for example had plenty of fantasy movement last season, but this season most players are established.

Yeah - Uate was hopeless the last few years, but you look at the rest of that knights side and I reckon even the best wingers would have struggled.

Pretty sure we had the Sauaso Sue discussion last year and a few people thought he would get a bigger role and more points etc but it never eventuated. His role has not changed, status quo I would say. Midranger with no upside, move along as there is better value elsewhere.
I was one of the unlucky sods who had Sue last year. He didn't improve and doubtful it will change this year. I can't stand looking at him in my team.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
My quickly thrown together side with some reasoning.
HOK: C. Smith (C. King)
FRF: G. Burgess, A. Woods (J. Wallace, Rookie)
2RF: S. Burgess, P. Gallen, M. Taupau (J. Arrow, Rookie, Rookie)
HLF: B. Austin, A. Sezer (K. Elgey, B. Hampton)
CTR: T. Simona*, D. Whare (J. Idris, C. Scott)
WFB: J. Hayne, R. Tuivasa-Scheck, V. Holmes (B. Slater, A. Uate)
$39 000 in change.
Of course a lot is dependant on who starts and injuries heading into the season. This starting base gives me a lot of flexibility with guys like Slater, Uate or my centers that can be downgraded in necessary. The reserve hooker position may fluctuate on what other rookies come about.
Not too thrilled at having two halves from the same team but they had poor seasons last year and should pick up.
*I actually mean K. Hurrell.

To follow on from Milchcows request for some quality 2nd rowers, who are we looking at?
I've got a watchlist of potential cashcows consisting of
Kurt Capewell
Shaun Lane
Nat Butcher
Angus Crichton
Jai Arrow
John Asiata
With Surgess, Buhrer, Tohu Harris, and Elijah Taylor as value for money buys

Whilst on the topic of Hookers, now that Kostjayson has gone and backup Hooker Chudleigh is injured for the year, would Granville be considered for increased minutes from 62 to maybe an 80min player

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
Few things, though I dont have stats on me so may not be able to back up any of my claims...
E. Taylor - I love the guy but don't see him as a value pick. He does have attacking prowess but doesn't do it all that much oftenly. I thought he was getting close to capped out on price towards the end of last season. (Did he play less than 10 games?)
I was tempted to pick up Shaun Lane for my own squad above but he only cracked the Warriors team once and I thought he signed mid year for Manly and never made their squad. (I may ne wrong about that.) I would love for him to get playing time though and if he is named week 1 I would pick him up.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
personally, I reckon ray thompson will probably get the utility bench spot
and Shaun Lane spent all last year at warriors and only signed with Manly after last year.
I think your right about ET, I had him the last 2 years because at the time of buying him he looked an affordable keeper, only to score crap after I brought him, so I won't fall for it again. (why did Aubusson just come to mind then?)

Similar watchlist without Asiata but plus Simpkins at start of season when Paasi out and L.Leilua. Plus watching for KBrom and Hess's role.
Of guns/near guns Surgess locked in, thinking about Taupau, Gallen, Tohu
