anyone starting with one gun half plus three 300k halves?

(sezer, tmm, lamb, hodkingson, keary, gutho, taylor)

instead of your typical 300k forwards

    gurgess, kbrom, wallace, dsaifiti, afb

means you will have no depth in your forwards. but i think there is more potential for a half to string together some big performances than a forward. which means faster cash.

that's true but the thing with the halves is you can get a pretty good guide based on last year. the reason the 300k forwards are options is different roles/more minutes than last year so people think they are underpriced. Besides Gutho who is changing roles, all of the guys you have listed will more or less be playing the same role as last year and already had full minutes. so for them to make you cash you are more or less betting on them to take their game to the next level this year. while that's a possibility, it is easier to see an obvious chance for increased minutes/role from AFB possibly starting at Manly vs Hodkinson suddenly having more in his game than just a pretty decent kicking game

I'm hoping that Kennedy at least starts. IF and its a big if JTurbo goes back to the front row with Myles and Kennedy starts at lock Kennedy will score more with reduced mins than what Sironen will in 80

In Barry Tooheys column today he suggested that Pythian is first in line for the fullback role. He generally is on the money with his reports

I'd say that's good news so I could lock him in but I remember the last time I put a Newcastle fullback in my team.........

How many people would pick up J. Tamou if he was around the $350k mark, or the $300k mark?

Mary's recent comments on McCrone and Field make me think he is leaning toward the former.

"Josh's got that older head on his shoulders and he really knows how to steer the ship around, especially when we're under fatigue," he said.

"As for young Jai Field, he's one of those players where he's exciting - he's learning how to play with men. Today, that'll really benefit him.

"If he gets a spot next week, I know that'll definitely be an eye-opener for him, but he's always up for that, the young fella.

"As long he keeps healthy, keeps his body weight in check and keeps learning and becoming a student of the game, he's going to become a great player at the back end of the year."

Field's time will come however I do think Nona might be a good chance of making the Round 1 side depending on how Charity Shield pans out. He's publicly said this is pretty much his last chance to make his NRL debut and I'd say he has more to play for than McCrone.

Preseason's are always fun. As long as players look healthy, just sit tight for teamlists.

Shame about JDB, was set on starting him.

Maybe at the 300k mark. He probably averages low-mid 40's like usual, I don't think his output will change.

Didn't watch the full trial between Dragons and Tigers but from what I saw in the highlights and 9s I haven't seen anything from Field to suggest he has any skills other than raw pace and support running. He throws a nice outball at 0:58 before the centre blows it. Much better suited to fullback. McCrone(cut out pass at 3:36 to create an overlap) or Nona(pin point kicking game) are much better options to steer the ship and let Widdop do his thing

McCrone throws a great falcon crash ball.

Hey guys, did anything of note come from Gurgess' trial performance? It seems if the guy is fit he is almost a no brainer, but if not then he is a risk. Anyone watch him?

Kennedy will be great Fantasy value if he can get a spot, one of the better prospects, valued at 22points, will probably avg around 40+ if he gets the starting gig.

My gut feel about Sironen is that he will start the season strong, but go downhill from there...

All this McGuire hype is getting to me. I don't want to pick him for my 3rd straight year in a row based on the fact he may achieve gun status once more.

There was no real doubt about it but confirmation from mcguire himself that he will play lock, and has known tbat since last year. He also says hes dropped a couple of kilos and will do a little more ballplay/try use a bit more footwork/etc. Also says he'll play bigger mins.

What makes you think Kennedy will get enough minutes let alone anything other than off the bench which is no given even
