for me its the term manufacture. johns started using it a lot this year, "he's manufactured a kick out of nothing", "hes someonehow manufactured a pass" and now i hear sterlo using it.
Not sure if the boys looked up a thesaurus and thought yeah i like the sound of that, or if their media people reckon the word connects with the audience.

That's 'for mine' Braith Anasta started using it every fucking second sentence when he started on fox, now every bloody commentator is using it over and over again. Just annoys the shit out of me.

Believe me I wanted him to score 45+ because I'm up against Milchy in L51 & his team is awesome & I need every point that I can get since he doesn't own Edwards.

Thanks for thinking my team is awesome.
With no Mannering, Fifita, Taumalolo or Jtrbo I feel like I'm down a little in the forwards.
my tv broke wrote:Speaking of commentators i've noticed lately that Warren Smith uses alot of the same phrases over and over, especially "wore/copped/got a shot for his troubles". Now that I've picked up on it, it stands out to me every single time. Wondering if any others have noticed this, he pulled one out last night. I might develop a drinking game for Woz

Its widely used in the horse racing industry too and shits me to no ends. It actually really triggers me... And everytime i pull them up and ask why they use it, they just say everyone else is...

I hate when journos (especially twitter journos aka dudes with no actual connections or knowledge) say "I'm hearing" in reference to a scoop. James Hooper is the worst for it, and fair enough he is in the know, but you get all these morons tweeting stuff like "I'm hearing" etc etc is out. And then the rumour gains momentum because they've all heard the same thing from each other on whatever fan forum they've read.

Andrew Moore on ABC radio has a few - listen to Grandstand a while and you'll hear "He strikes it, he likes it, it's over the black dot!" on a regular basis. Then Matt Elliott pays him out for it on air - which makes them a far better commentary team than any of the TV offerings IMO.
