For a 25 round comp I would just pick the best team you can. Don't pick a POD just for the sake of having a low ownership player. If you think a player will score well put him in your team whether or not he is owner by other people.

Teams are similar but there is enough variety there you can have uniqueness picking the guys you think will do well. If you are near the top after origin then you can think about PODing it up for the run home.

PODs are PODs for about two weeks in the first half of the year. If you have them and they kill it you get a jump on everyone, but within two weeks everyone else has traded them in anyway

One team I'm waiting for round 1 team lists is the Cowboys. Is there a chance that Ben Hampton gets the fullback gig with Lachlan Coote having hamstring issues? Looked ok the other night and is very cheap.

Yeah I put him in a couple of weeks ago but I’m tossing up between him and whitehead.

    Both have upsides

I would think Morgan to fullback and TMM in the halves.

If its just a 1 week thing for Coote they may not want to disrupt their halves though.

stumbled across this site about 2 minutes ago. bizarre coincidence.

i've been umm'ing and ahh'ing about putting together an nrl (fantasy focused) website for a while but i just can't work out what my 'niche' would be, or the general direction to take it.

    2015  2016  2017

    jbrom           53     51        37
    whitehead     -       52        41
    merrin          54     56        45
    harris           48      52       42
    lowe             47      49       41

definitely room for improvement for some of them

but is it worth picking these guys if they dont make any money and score at their 2017 level?

and with the nrlfantasystats.com website. dont forget to scroll to the right of the page to view more stats! i found this out by accident

No Worries wrote:I got my official response from NRL Fantasy regarding the use of emergencies and it includes the line "There are too many variables to know exactly what would happen". Don't know if I should laugh or cry. Here is the response it all it's glory.

@No Worries wrote: If you have Carty in 14-17 and a half goes down on Friday, then a 2FR goes down on Sunday and you have Croker in 18-21, do you play a man short or does Carty move to 2RF and Croker into half ? I suppose the question is, are emergencies assessed at the end of the round or rolling like the lock out ?

@NRL Fantasy wrote: Auto-emergency will be calculated as of the last game of the round. It will take into account the players from 1-17 that didn't start, the ordering of the bench players and their positions. There are too many variables to know exactly what would happen in your example, but for your example both players are likely to be pulled in as auto-emergency scores in your final 17, as the calculation is made after the last game. Keep an eye on the Fantasy News as we'll try and explain the auto-emergency process in more detail at some point.

These are the same people who can't link our team histories to our new accounts! Sheesh.

The line "There are too many variables to know exactly what would happen", is just terrible. A major part of coding any program is testing it with every conceivable situation that it may encounter, to ensure that when it gets used in the real world it's bulletproof. They should have already tested situations such as the one in your example and they should know exactly what happens. The fact that they don't know is very worrying.

    Rant over. Wink

the funny thing is there was no 'variables'. they were given a specific test case, and well.. couldn't answer the question.

his cost, essentially. hard to see much more of an upside for that kind of spend. lot of seemingly good value among 2rfs.

I figured, but he is essentially Smith 2.0 in terms of fantasy scores and a heap of teams are choosing Smith who costs virtually the same.

Also does anyone fancy Tariq Sims? Scored fairly well off the bench last season and now he will start every week, add in the Dragons fairly average looking bench, his scores are bound to increase.

And with Scott and McClean in the pack, it's hard to see him getting the big minutes he did last year. I think Green will be able to manage his workload a lot more this year.

Because Smith is head and shoulders above every other fantasy hooker bar McCullough, there are plenty of 2RF who can get pretty close to Taumalolo who also has Scott returning and McLean added into the cowboys pack, so there is a thought process he could lose a few points

Because of the bench makeup allowing more than the standard 2 hookers, you can start Smith and fit in the likes of Lichaa, Cook, Garvey/Havili who offer huge points and cash potential without worrying about them turning into Scott Moore scenarios

    Smith is the storm machine.

I think Sims should pick up the 2nd row spot too. Leilua wasn't that great on the weekend and lacks the experience.

The reason I haven't considered Lolo is that it was a career year for him, and now with Scott and McLean back as well as coming off a World Cup year where he played a massive part..I think he'll struggle to maintain those fantasy numbers let alone improve.

Sims I think is likely to get the spot over Leilua..however he's already averaging 38, I think his top end would be 45..IF he gets the gig full-time and maintains good form.
