Star signing Mitchell Pearce has told Knights coach Nathan Brown he wants youngster Brock Lamb as his ‘wingman’ this season.

The Knights have an embarrassment of riches in the halves, with Connor Watson, Jack Cogger and Lamb all in the running to partner Pearce.

But after training with all three, Pearce has had a quiet chat to Brown and said he believes Lamb is the best fit at five-eighth.

That leaves Watson most likely to play at fullback or as a utility off the bench, with Cogger to cool his heels in the NSW Cup while he waits to take up his rich deal at the Bulldogs in 2019.

Watson wants to play in the halves, but his versatility will be his worst enemy as he can play just about anywhere in the backline and, in the Newcastle team, is probably best suited at fullback.

Well, looks like he'll be a bench utility when Lamb comes in. I don't think he'll be playing FB haha.

How the hell do they see him playing fullback? That is Ponga's spot, locked up tighter than Fort Knox. scratch

IF taka starts on bench, will he be used as a utility/injury cover type role? or part of a forward rotation? Hard to see him coming on and having a bigger impact in a reduced minutes role?

No mention of anything like this on Tigers forum

With Nofo the only thing I can come up with is that he's slacked at training. Maybe all the talk with him having the mortgage on the wing spot has let him be a bit complacent in training? Dunno, just trying to come up with reasons. If he is will make things more annoying as he'll be back in in a week or two you'd expect.

If he's on the bench, stay well away. Who knows where he'll be used but he was a shit fantasy prospect playing in the centres so being on the bench definitely is enough for me to not go there.

If there was another Ponga in the league, we'd be all over this.

Are you using Rochow as the players surname, or is it a contracted form of Robbie Rochow?

Anyone willing to take a punt on K.Lawton in the CTR spot if he starts as Warriors hooker? not sure on length of injury to Roache (or depth of Lukes inability to be a team player). How long would he be there assuming he does well?

Speaking of HOOPS, this might be his first big selection call for 2018 - https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/rabbitohs/nrl-2018-damien-cook-beats-robbie-farah-to-rabbitohs-no9-jersey/news-story/25a3bd7c04b5c86a85ea0cd096b93c41

According to the article, Farah will travel, but WILL  NOT be part of souths 17 for round 1.

Unfortunately it says the reason is that he's picked up a minor injury so if true we don't know whether fit Robbie makes the bench

He'd have Sam Cook to compete with as well and is 322k not 228k. I'd stay away.

Slater ruled out with shoulder soreness - supposedly precautionary.

Saw something last night on Facebook saying Sam Cook will be suiting up for the Warriors this weekend in place of Roache.

They are saying nothing structural/long term, but wasn't it the same with Munster at one stage? Storm officials said he would defs only miss one game and it went on and on?

A shame Hughes is injured too.

He scored a 99 then had some sort of injury which Bellamy said he'd be back the next week. It was more like 5-6, so frustrating.
