Not really fantasy relevant but thought I'd post it anyway

Ivan Cleary has confirmed Ben Matulino and Russell Packer are not eligible for the Denver Test.

Matulino has retired from rep footy.

I can trade Lane to anybody by going Murray to Olive. Was thinking McInnes but should I go for SJ instead? Or Jurbo or Taupau?

I like Peachey. He is such a versatile player, and strong around the ruck. With that said I would rate Ponga over him, but Ponga isn't as versatile.

I just can’t get behind him. I mean sure every player does some shit things. But when he does it. I seem to notice it more. Dunno.

could swear they changed the rules a couple of years back after he and DCE did it to make it so there was less of a cooling off period and a club couldn't announce a signing until it was set in stone, no take-backsies

I think the more telling stat is the fact that NSW has a new coach and 11 debutants, I know they're all experienced NRL players but if you've never experienced an Origin match I can't help thinking so many newbies means there is more room for someone to 'choke'.

My money is going on Queensland as I believe the (bookies) odds are tilted too far in favour of NSW.

QLD always has inflated odds. I think it’s because the nrl media love riding the dick of NSW. Which is fair, qld journalists do the same, but NSW ones really get the limelight. On 100% Footy last week they were all circlejerking how the qld forwards are “out of form” and “incapable” of matching the nsw forwards. Mind you, these are the same forwards who won last year (minus Matt Gillett and Glasby). It’s pretty funny.

As for the backs, that’s the funniest thing of all. The talk has been about how qld backs will struggle to help getting it out of our end. Hilarious. Holmes is a proven rep beast, Gagai won man of the series and has been an outright superstar at Origin, Inglis is Inglis, Chambers has arguably been the best centre in the game for a few years now. The halves are Australian reps and Origin victors. Now Slater is out it maybe adds a bit of vulnerability, but eh, I’m confident Munster/Inglis could slot in fine (assuming Milf is brought in, not Ponga). NSW have centre notorious for poor defence. When was the las time you saw attacking flair win an Origin game?

I’m almost certain when qld had pretty much the whole Australian team we were still equal odds to nsw.

QLD always have inflated odds because there are more people in NSW therefore a greater volume of "patriotic" or selective perception bets and the bookies margin both ways means the odds reflect that.

Similarly, never bet on England soccer with an English bookmaker. Doesn't mean they won't win but the odds will be false and value long-term bet will always be the opposition.

Interesting for me as a Broncos fan hoping we don't lose Sua.

The signing hasnt been officially announced so im guessing its not registered yet. You have 7 days after signing or registering, im not sure which one.

Not sure what youve been reading or watching but with the backs its all been the opposite , saying NSW backs dont have the dummy half running or kick return that the QLDers have

What happens next year at the Roosters if Crichton comes to the edge? Both Matterson and Radley have shown more of their potential since the Crangus signing. Plenty of clubs would be circling them and somehow Roosters will still sign them all.
    Does Matterson go to lock?
As if their lineup wasn't scary enough already

    1. Tedesco 2. Tupou 3. Mitchell 4. Manu 5. Ferguson 6. Keary 7. Cronk 8. Tauks 9. Friend 10. Napa 11. Cordner 12. Crichton 13. Matterson 14. Liu 15. JWH 16. Radley 17. Aubusson Love

    Dat bench tho!

Sometimes I live in a different world to mainstream rugby league media.

Every man and his dog have been calling on the refs to ignore the penalty crackdown for origin because 'origin is the show piece of the game"

For the past few years, origin has produced heaps of dire bore-fests where players lay all over every one, there's very little chance to play attacking football and we get shitty 10-8 scorelines.
There have been a few exceptions (mostly QLD flogging NSW) but origin has produced so many dud games recently, I hope that we don't keep going with it.

I used to go to every origin game in Sydney (plus 2 in Brisbane and down to Melbourne once) but I don't bother any more

Obviously the case but this year is even more lopsided than usual which reflects the fact NSW are going into this as clear favourites.

Not trying to suggest it is justified or anything but for whatever reason (new team, new opposition, new coach??) there is certainly an air of confidence from fans/media about the Blues chances this year.

From a QLD perspective, hopefully it is just over-confidence as per last years series (post Game 1) but only time will tell.

months to go yet, but its a great way to see the NRL offseason over

2 leagues were ran last year, it's a draft format and really competitive
