in his short tenure as coach he turned souths into the must see team every week, they were exciting as fk to watch this year.. part of that was down to cook and having an energetic jackrabbit of a fullback in johnson. Those plays out on the left side with Walker, GI, Sutton etc... they were awesome. Does brisbane have skillful enough cattle to pull that off? With all the off field benefits Brisbane have, you think Seibold would only be able to build on what he did at the bunnies.

Im looking forward to seeing who comes and who goes.

I think why Wayne was so keen on a short term contract is with our young and up and comers I think we have a much better shot to win than the last several years and ole Benny probably knows that.

I am genuinely intrigued what will happen with Boyd I think he'll stay and with a bit of luck does the old RTS/Gordon swap in attack and defence with Issako.

I know a lot of Broncos fans didn't like him but ill miss Sims I thought he was brilliant always put in effort just had a few silly errors.

Also hope that McGuire goes back to prop with Gillett and two of TPJ/Offa/Glenn/Sua and Fifita in the 11 and 13

Having Bennett as your coach is like playing your hooker in 12 and your lock in 8.

Newcastle fans wouldn't want the best coach to have ever donned a whistle and picked up a clipboard???

Actually fair enough, seems about the right level of stereotypical idiocy.

As a Broncos fan, I have to admit I am disappointed at the whole coaching drama and how it eventually unfolded.

Yes I openly spoke about wanting to jag Siebold......just didn't want it to be at the expense of Bennett.

I really think an opportunity has been lost to develop and make attractive a successful coaching director role.

Hopefully, it is ironically similar to when Bennett made the tough call to move on the best player in the history of the game.....and we subsequently won back to back premierships.

If it was 20 years ago, sure, would love to have him.
Father time catches up with everyone. He might have a successful year or 2 at Souths, considering all the leg work has been done by Seibold.
He wont take his son with him because he knows Boyd is cooked from a playing point of view, its an easy excuse to sever ties with boyd without dropping him.

You seem like someone who would go back to their crazy x every other week though, so your comment makes sense when you look at it from that point of view.

Bennett obviously doesnt want a coaching director role at this time. He wants ultimate control over the side, he doesnt want to sit in an office.

I can't argue that he doesn't have the best record ever, and had stronger claims than any to "best league coach ever" but over the last half decade+ some of his decision making has been terrible, he has shown he can still coach and can get some guys to lift, as pretty much every coach in the league can do to some degree, but he isn't close to the best coach at present. Can he win a GF with the current Souths squad, plus an addition or two? I don't see why not, in fact he should, but time will tell.

Bennett has become Gus Gould of the coaching world. Give him a talented established team that another coach has built and got within a whisker of winning it all and he can provide the mental edge to win you a premiership. With a roster anything less than that he's no different to 10-12 other coaches in the NRL and 2-3 unemployed ones.

    Exactly right.
He has done well though, he has put himself in the driver's seat to win a comp in the next year or 2. That side that he has now at souths is outstanding on paper and is coming off a really really good year.

People were talking about him walking back into the QLD side. Apparently he's down 10kg. It looks more and like it's going to take a while to get back. That being said it's a long pre-season and origin is a long way off.

He doesn't need to get back to his best to make that team. I guess if we didn't see him until the first pre-season game there wouldn't be as much speculation purely based on how he looks.

It's only mid November. I usually put 10kg between Christmas Day and my first dump after Christmas Day, so with a specialist program he'll get close to playing weight by the time the season starts. You can tell some obvious muscle loss around the arms, but there is a bit of an optical illusion with him shaving the beard off and not wearing the sternum guard.

Being reported that McGuire will be a Cowboy in 2019. He's probably been our most consistent for about 3 seasons now, so that's a shame and a loss if he was contracted for a reasonable salary. Assuming he was to play lock again this year, at least it happens in the position where we have the most depth.

You'd think the back row would be Pangai, Gillett, Sua and maybe Alex Glenn or Jo O if he doesn't play prop, so that's still really strong if they are all fit. Wonder if they will take the opportunity to put Jack Bird there as a ball playing lock. Wasn't the talk that part of the reason he came was to be closer to the action than centre?

Seibold isn't fond of high maintanence shit human beings, you'll lose Lodge too. TPJ is going to Souths, you almost need to hope it's Hayne's dream to play in the forwards.

    Well played

"Brisbane Broncos workhorse Alex Glenn could follow Josh McGuire out the door in the coming weeks as the Gold Coast Titans circle the New Zealand international.

According to The Courier Mail, the Titans are set to make a play to lure Glenn south after 10 seasons at the Broncos.

Glenn, who resides on the Glitter Strip, comes off contract at the end of 2019."
