Just seems like he wants to keep his options open. Good on him.Pieman wrote:Maybe he is covering himself both ways...
If Bennett ends up at Parra or something maybe Oates wont want to follow and will stay at brisbane?

Yeah really hard to fathom how @surmo13 can't understand how or why a player would put themselves first over the Broncos and leave themselves with options.

Some Broncos fans have trouble with the idea that not everyone is willing to play for them for more reasons than money

More like I don’t understand No Worries scenario where a player and club of any description would bother going to the trouble of negotiating a 5+ year contract whilst wording the contract for a likelihood that said player leaves after 1, More so now trying to work through this logic last night and then reading afterwards that we are doing a one-year deal with Pangai.

I think TPJ is backing himself to be worth a lot more in 12 months time than he is now. Big balls to do that.

TPJ certainly the exeption rather than the rule. 1 year contracts are the realm of someone sulking back from ESL or returning from a coke binge

Usually to protect the team not the player. I commend him for backing himself instead of signing a five year deal then holding a gun to the teams head when he realises he's made a dud decision in a year or 2.No Worries wrote:TPJ certainly the exeption rather than the rule. 1 year contracts are the realm of someone sulking back from ESL or returning from a coke binge

I agree it's a fanciful scenario but not sure why you'd query why Oates would want to negotiate a clause like that......it would be outrageously in his favour, so of course he would.
It would be the Broncos that wouldn't have a bar of it.
At least they shouldn't.
I imagine most clubs these day's would despise get out clauses.....let alone those associated with a given outcome!

Saint Benny gone...
Taking over at souths in 2020
That obviously suggestes that Seibold will be the Bronco's coach come 2020.
And immediate swap may be on the cards.
Its good for Bennett, he gets to take over an excellent young side who are close to winning the comp again, doesnt have to do a rebuild as history has shown he is not great at that.
Seibold in Brissy, will be interesting to see who stays and who goes at both souths and brisbane

haha yeah didnt think about that either - however a good portion of what he said was tongue in cheek so he is prob ok with it.
Its not like Benny has to do a complete rebuild of the club.

I'm 100% happy and excited with Siebold coming to Brisbane Rabbits have been a great team to watch and its been impressive how he's been able to elevate some of the young stocks while getting the best out of some of the older guys.
It's a big thumbs up from me.

Of course mate!
in his short tenure as coach he turned souths into the must see team every week, they were exciting as fk to watch this year.. part of that was down to cook and having an energetic jackrabbit of a fullback in johnson. Those plays out on the left side with Walker, GI, Sutton etc... they were awesome. Does brisbane have skillful enough cattle to pull that off? With all the off field benefits Brisbane have, you think Seibold would only be able to build on what he did at the bunnies.
Im looking forward to seeing who comes and who goes.

Oh ofcourse ive never taken him 100% seriously. I don't think anyone would be particularly unhappy with Bennett at their team.
