Smith Mahoney, gives you a captain and better upside with minimal risk

Debatable! Macca and Friend is very low risk imo. I agree, Smith is a captain option, but Smith could lose mins (or may just average 50 to 55..), Mahoney could lose his spot... (assuming he is getting it).
That said, I personally wouldn't have both Macca and Friend.

If the Parra bench suggests that Mahoney will be playing 80 minutes most weeks, then you probably want Mahoney.

65+ minutes is good enough for me when looking at stats. No forward plays 80 minutes every single week, there's always HIA, injury, just need a rest for game circumstances that come up.
I think Friend plays big minutes most, but not every week. There's some value there, but at effectively the same price, McCullough provides better value IMO
I would love for you to breakdown McCullough as everything I have done sort of comes up to him as scoring about par for what he has done. I would love to have reasons to take him over Cook more than just "Cook has Bennett as coach." risk.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 thread part 6
My strategy this year with my back 5 (ctr/wfb) is this:
2 wfb set & forget = Drinkwater & Edwards
The 2 ctr spots I'll rotate based on form & fixtures = 2 will play from J. Bird, Nikora, Garrick, Lomax
The 1 wfb spot I'll rotate based on form & fixtures = 1 will play from A. Hopoate, Lomax, Allan
ofc this assumes they get named to start in round 1
Also I'm going cheap on my starting frf = Fotuaika & J. Paulo with TPJ in my 14-17. ofc this is dependent on Fotuaika starting. All I'm expecting is 40-45 points from Fotuaika & looking at how good Paulo went in the trial imo he can score 45-50 points. Going cheap in my front row allows me to stack my 14-17 with 3 hookers (Macca, Mahoney, Egan) & TPJ while also starting with Cook.

The Raiders have named their strongest possible squad for their trial this weekend. Ricky said they want to play their best side for 60 odd mins
Edit: no bateman/oldfield/lui/leilua

What is with the Drinkwater hype? Is he confirmed getting a spot, or people hoping? The Storm have Hughes, Munster and Croft. Then B. Smith as the bench utility.

Smith advised him as the front runner for the fullback spot

Drinkwater will be a gun. He's a very busy player, gets involved in a lot of the plays & has searing pace. Plus the Storm have named him at f/b for the trial this week so it appears he has first dibs on the f/b position.

Good upside, but a lot of risk here. Potentially your team will be destroyed by TLT and you'll need to start again
Drinkwater, Edwards, Egan, Fotuaika no guarantees to start or keep their spot. I think big doubts on Hopoate and Allen starting round 1, potentially you'll be forced to rely on Lomax
If one of your CTRs turns out a to be a dud, probably no big deal. 2 of them duds might be some issue (also depends on if Lomax is one of them or if he is required in WFB or not)
How many of the players you have named do you think will be in your final 17? Maybe Drinkwater. Not that this is necessarily a big deak, especially if you have keepers in the other positions.
But if TLT turns out how you are hoping, a lot of those guys will be very popular.
Junior Paulo's 2018 stats don't excite me, but if he kills it, well done for taking the punt.

Interesting to note there is no Abbey named and he's not mentioned as one of those left out through injury. Will see how simonsson goes but I'd say that all but assures CNK + Oldfield for rd1. I wonder if Kris has perhaps bumped up the depth order (or its purely that he's a CTR and BJ is out) after his performance, was great defensively.

Seems that there is no mention of Dunamis Lui in the injuries either, even though he is not in this weeks squad.
*adds Guler back on the watchlist*

I thought Kris was 1 of the Raiders stand outs in the trial. He was very solid especially in defense as you said.

IM going with a similar strategy, different execution.
Mahoney
Afifita, TPJ
Jurbo, Murray, Matterson
Arey, CHT
Croker, Holland
Turbo, Bmoz, Lomax
Fotuika, Nikora, Capewell, Haas
Dbrown, Egan, Hopoate, Kerrigan.
Set and forget Ctr (full season) Croker and Holland/Capewell
Wfb. Teddy/Turbo (will decide later depending on money) with Lomax and Bmoz/CNK. I expect to run a combo of these guys for first few months unless a Cow raises its head and is a must have in that position.
Having Mahoney isn’t ideal. But if he can score 40-50 on the reg, he has done his job. I have two legit C options in Fifita and Jurbo. So not overly worried. Starting with such a strong pack allows me to focus on getting in the right cows in the 14-21 positions.
The ideal world, all the guns I pick fire meaning ill have money and trades to burn. Obviously this wont happen. But hey that’s the plan.
