If a team can keep Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater for their entire careers - why the fuck couldnt the Tigers keep Tedesco/Brooks/Moses together?
You would think that at this point in their careers, they would all be earning roughly half of what the melbourne blokes would be on (besides Ted).
Farah is soaking up a bit of coin but why waste cash on guys like Ballin/Rankin/Justin Hunt - when you are trying to keep your core together.
I guess the problem with not signing any new talent for a few years is
1. You miss out on good new players 2. Your fans hate it 3. You lose sponsorhsip coz you cant win games 4. Players dont want to lose all the time.
They are too scared to back end deals now coz of the Farah debacle.

If Brooks/ Moses and Tedesco want to stay together forever then there will be times they have to take less money. Like this guy...... sounds unselfish.

Despite some impressive form in the back row, Lawrence was always at long odds to find a club willing to pay so much at this stage of his career.
We can reveal Lawrence also has an option in his favour for 2017 - at the same value. If, as expected, he decides to take up that options, the Tigers' salary cap will be under immense pressure next year.
Preliminary talks have begun around a compromise that would see Lawrence stay on for just $300,000 in 2017 - and be given two further years at the same salary. The 27-year-old is now waiting to see how his body holds up in the first half of the season, before deciding how long he wants to continue.
