If a team can keep Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater for their entire careers - why the fuck couldnt the Tigers keep Tedesco/Brooks/Moses together?
You would think that at this point in their careers, they would all be earning roughly half of what the melbourne blokes would be on (besides Ted).

Farah is soaking up a bit of coin but why waste cash on guys like Ballin/Rankin/Justin Hunt - when you are trying to keep your core together.

I guess the problem with not signing any new talent for a few years is

    1. You miss out on good new players 2. Your fans hate it 3. You lose sponsorhsip coz you cant win games 4. Players dont want to lose all the time.

They are too scared to back end deals now coz of the Farah debacle.
Storm is not the best example Pieman!  But yeah, it's confounding.  Obviously we are the 2nd biggest trainwreck in the comp in the Board Room, but it's like it started snowballing 5 years ago with paying overs for the likes of Blair and then covering part of their salary later.

Ballin was political, not sure Rankin or Hunt would be on much more than  rookie wages.

How much of the big 3's money is on the cap though? As it is Brooks and Moses are being overpaid imo but thats what you have to do to keep any half these days. Our issue is that we can't attract any TPA's so if a player wants half a million it's all going on the cap instead of 350k on the cap and 150k in TPA's.

Great day. Footy show was there. They had Robbie & Woods miced up and they were running the water. Old boys like Bronson & Wes wandering around, old boys like me who never made the  grade drinking copious amounts of alcohol. The bar went dry 3 times in 5 hours.

    22-22 was a fitting scoreline

My head hurts and it's off to kids sport, I think I'm still over, the wife will be driving.

They absolutely bulldozed us through the middle in the 2nd half. Paasi looked like he would break the line every single carry.

At the risk of being stalked by Ms Go again. It's clear that something needs to be done about 5 day turn arounds and it's up to the clubs and their boards to stand up to the NRL.

It's not the only reason we lost but when you take into account 1 day recovery session 1 day travel interstate, it doesn't leave much time for anything else.

traveling from sydney-gold coast wouldn't waste a day, teams would still train in some way i would think

but 100% agree re 5 day turn aroundss, its gotta be stopped or atleast limited to a maximum of say 1-2 per team, per season

and never 3 games in 10 days which seems to happen every now and then

totally agree - the flight prob takes as long as driving to penrith from the city lol
5 day TA tho are BS. they shouldnt exist especially when certain teams get 7 days basically every week

the rlpa should be striking to get them abolished.

The time flying from South East QLD to NSW is fairly negligible, though there is the travel to get to and from the airport as well (together with check-ins etc both at the airport and hotels). Same would apply for the Knights road trips to Sydney. Except for the odd games in Perth or Darwin, I'd be surprised if any trips are so long they don't train on the same day as flying if they want to. The Titans probably get the shortest straw as they already fly between 11 & 12 away games a year, and because they have no Sydney supporter base they inevitably seem to be a prime target for games taken elsewhere, like Darwin, so they do some kms then.

While I agree about the 5 day turnaround, I can't see how they can really change it while they're playing 8 matches over 5 days from Thursday to Monday with only 5 on Saturday and Sunday (or even 4 days for that matter if they get rid of Thursday or Monday matches). In it's current format, it would mean that Thursday matches could only be between one of the teams that played Thursday, and one of the teams that played Friday. There simply isn't enough combinations. They could most certainly make sure that any 5 day turnaround is followed by at least a 7 day turnaround, and also make sure those playing have at least 1 home game or home city game if there is a 5 day turnaround.

Not sure which teams  you are talking about with regard to the 7 day turnaround each week. At first I assumed you meant the Broncos, but then I looked at the draw and for the 20 rounds that are released they only have 2 x 7 day turnarounds. Perhaps you meant the Knights, who have 5 x 7 day turnarounds in the first 20 rounds. If you see 7 day turnarounds as an advantage, then I guess you'd have to say the Broncos are at a disadvantage to almost all of the rest of the teams in this respect in 2016.

Historically (well in recent years), brisbane have had the most 7 day turnarounds.
I said certain teams mate, newcastle have had heaps over the last few years coz they had heaps of sunday games. I dont see it as that much of an on field advantage, but having a FTA game just about every week most certainly creates a fiscal advantage over the other clubs.

With ur combinations comment, sure thats not enough but if they had byes each week or something instead of having bye rounds, then they could sort it that way prob.
