Is this the asshole that robbed Kurt Mann of the half jersey last year when we all got him specifically for the last bye round?

Edit: nope it's Darren Nicholls I'm thinking of.  What an asshole.

Haha that bastard. I remember that well

Tapine. I might leave TPJ out for the first few rounds and see how he goes

While everyone is looking at Garner it just quietly locks Matterson into my team. Almost guaranteed he is the big minute back rower

I've not had Matterson at any stage, but was thinking the same thing with that news.

I know you are keen on Matterson anyway, but if Lawrence was starting (as he probably will do a few rounds in) would you still lock him in.

He's under consideration for me, but plenty of other value in 2RF so he's not a certain starter

It would have been sweet if he had DPP?
Why on earth did they remove it? because he only started 3 games at 5/8 last year? Evil or Very Mad

Probably because they have about 15 halfbacks in the team already haha!

Haha you're right, they probably have the best halves cover in the comp.
If Matterson was DPP, I would have considered playing him in my halves instead of Cleary

Have they dealt with Napa yet, or is he having to show them all exactly what he did?

Apparently he has to take the footage to all 16 clubs and show them as well. Beer

I believe Matterson is a better player than Lawrence at this stage of their careers so would end up that way anyway. Would still likely start with him but wasn't a certainty

I don’t know how anyone could be certain on Matterson, the way he finished last year, a new club and a new coach put way too many question marks up for me. Especially given he’s not dual position and there’s so much other valuable options at 2rf. High risk.

Risk was certainly higher before this Lawrence injury. Madge has typically used 1 big minute second row with the other playing 60 odd minutes. We have all seen what Matterson can do with a starting role I believe he can average anywhere from 50-55 this year

Didn't the risk just drop with Claw's broken jaw? At least for the first rounds. And Matterson can post some solid scores, which can be useful in the early rounds

All that’s definitely true however he will be playing outside of Marshall who only knows two types of passes... cut outs and hospitals. He’s a gun in defence no doubt but I wouldn’t expect anything from him in attack. If anyone owned Marsters last year they’ll know how true this is.

Attacking stats are just a bonus. I'm buying him for his 34 tackle/115 metre average as a starting second rower in 2017 and 39 tackle average as a starter in 2018. Those kind of base stats nearly get him to his priced average without including his ability to break tackles, offload and find the try line

As soon as you said this I got a flash back of the best short ball I've ever seen when Marshall laid one on for Glenn against the Raiders for the Broncos back in 2017
