But purely from a cash generation perspective Lawrie and Bird seem like the better candidates this week. Does everyone just already own Bird?

Conservatively speaking, if Lawrie scores a 40 he goes up ~$46k. Similar figure for Host but I really don't rate him (and I'm a dragons fan). If Bird scores a 40 he goes up ~$42k, but lets say he jags a 35 - still goes up ~$37k while a 30 gets him ~$32k.

Whereas Bateman with a 50 goes up ~$26k, and a 60 pushes him to ~$37k. If he flops and only gets a 40-45 he only moves $15-20k.

You could make more cash (unless Bird bombs - which is completely possible) and get an extra week to assess Bateman.

I made similar post earlier but without as much detail and that if I don't get Bird this week I'll likely go without and his effective ownership worries me

Good morning sfb’s. Shot a nice 3 over, 73, yesterday. Missed an easy up and down for birdie on the last, but you can’t be naturally gifted, good looking, hung like a horse and shoot under par every week.

Anyway, I’ve had a good think about things here and Im going Brown > Bateman, James > Lawrie. Yes, I’m biting the bullet and fucking the lump of lard off altogether. Brennan is a potato and I don’t want anything to do with any Titan. He will still outscore Arrow though Laughing

This is the team now, with $660k in the bank to unleash over the next few weeks.

    Cook
    Taupau, Lawrie
    Murray, Garner, Tevaga
    Milford, Keighran
    Bateman, Nikora
    Burns, Edwards, CNK

    Glasby, Burr, Brown, Egan

    Ravalawa, Sivo, Horsehead, Garrick.

    Read it and weep.

I'm getting worried about Teddy's score this coming game, could carve up a very average Manly side this week in the dry.

I suppose if I had to justify it.

Seles 14 along with his time in the starting side coming to an end (Kikaus return in Rd3 was it) halts his money making ability quite severely. At least Bird is on his way even though I don't trust him and it is an expensive trade.

He'll go good in ISP, considering Wentworthville have a 5/8 playing hooker at the moment.

Seaso Keeper centre and serviceable FRF backup for almost nothing

Yeah, I'm a little worried about Lawrie's security but looks too good at the moment.  A shame to miss Bird, but if Borris doesn't fire this week, could be a straight swap next week.  Have the money however to do both these trades with 34K leftover so seems like a no brainer.  Still have Holland but I have faith.

The only thing that concerns me, is that Garrick seems to have better job security than Sivo. Sivo could be gone as soon as this week, but Dragons play first so have to make a decision. Garrick I don't see making any money though.

100% agree but the game is ultimately about total points and that is the driver for Bateman. People aren't getting him in because he's going to make money, they are buying him because he is hopefully and undervalued keeper in the toughest position in the game.

So the question is not which option makes the most money, but which option serves you best long term - I can see the case for both.

Also, on Bird, its plausible that people dont have him, but also dont have the room for him. I.e. you aren't gonna play him at centre if you have 2 of Nikora, Capewell, Bateman, and you likely aren't playing him in your 17 if you aren't playing him at C. Therefore you would typically only be getting him in as a money making EMG. A number of people have those four EMG slots tied up already with the likes of Host, Brown, Ravalawa, Keighran, Lawrie, Mikaele, etc and I think its fair to argue that you wouldn't be wanting to jump off any of those guys for Bird at this stage.

I don’t get why you would pay almost a million a year for a player like Crichton, then leave him on the bench for Aubbs Beating Heart Wtf? It’s great for fantasy players though. He’ll be a straight swap for a mid ranger soon.

coming off surgery, they are easing him back in... he will be playing huge minutes within a few rounds.

Thanks for your input Iron Mike and GM. I had left Brown out as I missed the Eels game this week so he is still a bit of an unknown for me. Might play him instead of Keighran now. Cheers

I think Keighran will edge out Brown every week for me. Keighran's base seems very high 48 in base stats last week plus kicking goals on top of that and the odd try.

Would you upgrade Mahoney to Friend. With Salmon on the bench he will spell Mahoney & to hit 40's Mahoney has to play 80 mins. I did start with Mahoney hoping for 80 mins but it looks like this won't happen for a while & Mahoney did look like he was struggling in the 2nd half & needed a rest so he doesn't look ready for 80 mins just yet. Without the try he would of scored mid 30's & Friend will knock out at least 60's plus Friend is up against Manly so some attacking stats are a very good possibility for Friend. The trades I'm weighing up are:
    Ofa out - Lawrie in
    Mahoney out - Friend in

    Thoughts & thanks.

Half the NRL are coming back from some sort of surgery. Bateman was coming off an injury and played 80. If they lose again this week, watch the 3 rooster fans blow up and go back to AFL.

MOD EDIT: None of that thanks Rabs.
