Anyway, I’ve had a good think about things here and Im going Brown > Bateman, James > Lawrie. Yes, I’m biting the bullet and fucking the lump of lard off altogether. Brennan is a potato and I don’t want anything to do with any Titan. He will still outscore Arrow though Laughing

This is the team now, with $660k in the bank to unleash over the next few weeks.

    Cook
    Taupau, Lawrie
    Murray, Garner, Tevaga
    Milford, Keighran
    Bateman, Nikora
    Burns, Edwards, CNK

    Glasby, Burr, Brown, Egan

    Ravalawa, Sivo, Horsehead, Garrick.

    Read it and weep.

Dang, 660k equates to nearly 40 points on the pine mate. No interest in going Fifita?

Anyone watch the Warriors game last week. I missed out on Keirigan as my last scoring reserve, wondering if it is better to play him this week instead of Burr.

I guess I will wait till late on to see if IPap gets the nod instead of him. Although every chance he could hold his spot if IPap gets the starting nod and a potential move for Blair to the front row.

Warriors do like a no frills lock. So Burr could potentially hold his spot.

I did start with Mahoney hoping for 80 mins but it looks like this won't happen for a while & Mahoney did look like he was struggling in the 2nd half & needed a rest so he doesn't look ready for 80 mins just yet. Without the try he would of scored mid 30's & Friend will knock out at least 60's plus Friend is up against Manly so some attacking stats are a very good possibility for Friend. The trades I'm weighing up are:
    Ofa out - Lawrie in
    Mahoney out - Friend in

    Thoughts & thanks.

Mahoney looks like multiple HIA’s waiting to happen.

Sorry I made a mistake re: base stats? haha i was more saying 48 points without his try or goal kicking.

Base stats are 32 from last weeks game. 17 tackles, 200KM, 54mg.

Also I am getting various reports on return dates of Dragons forwards. Anyone care to fill me in on their knowledge.

Can Lawrie hold a spot over Host, when the first player returns. That is the question.

    Macca
    Tolman, Fifita
    Arrow, Murray, Garner
    Morgan, Keighran
    Holland, Capewell
    CNK, Burns, Teddy

    Lawrie
    Taupau
    Host
    Nikora

    Bird
    Brown
    Sivo
    Rivalawa

Not too many surprises in my team but looking at it, would you think Bird is being wasted in the reserves? I really think he can keep up the good scoring thanks to his sideways running but I wouldn't put him in over any of my interchange.

All this talk and i'm starting to get cold feet on Holland+Garrick > Bird+Lawrie.

I dont want Garrick stinking up NPR's and i know it's 1 game but i've lost faith in Holland. He needs to be on Smith's edge and flick Montoya out of the team. When this happens i will think of getting him back in. Bird and Lawrie will outscore and make more money

I loved watching him mate! From the moment he come onto the field he just looked amped. The kid looked so happy to be there and completely full of energy. Then as the game went on he really found his groove. Test will come when they come up against a team who actually wants to be there. The Dogs looked god awful at times last week.

I do think the kid will go ok though, but Burr vs him this week is probably 50-50 for me. Burr at least should get 30 as a floor. Keighan has the bigger upside though so I think the answer should reflect you propensity for risk!

I had him in there, but I think I’ll have a look see for another week. I’ve never had cash other seasons and it has hurt me in getting who I needed in the early rounds. I would probably be doing the same this year if it wasn’t for the Brown injury. I still might wilt yet, but that’s some nice coin and Lawrie might have a 60 in him. I’m riding for luck. Very Happy

I'm gonna have to miss Bird. Getting Lawrie and Burns instead. Being able to play burns at WFB is the clincher. It's going to be doubly painful watching if Bird goes on sideways runs against my Cowboys.

100% agree but the game is ultimately about total points and that is the driver for Bateman. People aren't getting him in because he's going to make money, they are buying him because he is hopefully and undervalued keeper in the toughest position in the game.

So the question is not which option makes the most money, but which option serves you best long term - I can see the case for both.

Also, on Bird, its plausible that people dont have him, but also dont have the room for him. I.e. you aren't gonna play him at centre if you have 2 of Nikora, Capewell, Bateman, and you likely aren't playing him in your 17 if you aren't playing him at C. Therefore you would typically only be getting him in as a money making EMG. A number of people have those four EMG slots tied up already with the likes of Host, Brown, Ravalawa, Keighran, Lawrie, Mikaele, etc and I think its fair to argue that you wouldn't be wanting to jump off any of those guys for Bird at this stage.

Fair points. It's a bit of a delicate balance early on. I'm personally leaning towards him even at the expense of Lane. So I can't judge, just trying to point out the money making perspective. Primarily because I didn't jump on Capewell and have Nikora and Holland there at the moment. Also Gillet on my bench who can move to starting. Lets me run Holland/Bateman all year, with Nikora on the bench.

True about Bird, but I'd much rather have him than the flops - Kahu/Sivo/Garrick.

I'm looking for Siebold to slap the sideways running out of his game, get him running forwards instead.

Keighran I think will have the more consistent base then add in GK and he's the better option. Both will have high scoring games though.

I've come around to giving Holland another week, and holding off on jumping on Bateman. Question then is do I play Holland or Bird?

Agree with that. While its technically 40 odd points on the pine, Lawrie could hit 60 and so could Fifita so in reality it might be 0. Then you have a whole other week worth of info to base how you spend that $660k. For much of last year I actually had quite a bit of coin in the bank - it made sense in terms of the greater plan and worked out for me.
