This. We also had Gillett last year. The QLD team needs an overhaul and fresh blood. I just looked at the game 3 side from 2019 and its gross. The ranga and flegler off the bench in the 16 and 17 jersey for me

(it is wayyyy too early to start this chat, i'm sorry).

I'd be tempted to punt on Fogarty instead of Mann so that you have the extra cash to get a gun WFB next week, as you only need a half for the short term.

When Cleary returns you can partner him and Drinkwater in the halves and have more money to spend on grabbing Trbo or something for WFB, meanwhile all going well Fogarty might make a bit more cash.

Or alternatively more money to spend on a second gun half if you just want to leave Drinkwater at wfb.

    Done. Cheers.

Thanks MTV, will be bringing in Capewell.

    D. Fifita out - Taumalolo in
Stimson out - H. Grant in
Wakeham out - K. Mann in
    Watkins out - Capewell in

    This leaves 3k bank

    Koroisau
    Haas, Carrigan
    Taumalolo (c), L. Knight, L. Leilua
    Luai, Mann
    Wiliame, Capewell
    Papenhuyzen, Kennedy, Drinkwater

    Friend, E. Katoa, H, Grant, J, Williams
    Guler, Cleary, Aubusson, Musgrove

In round 4 Musgrove (dropped), Kennedy (if Moylan plays), J. Williams (if bombs again) & L. Knight (if  he continues to get low mins) will go.

I don't think I would get Mann in, I'd get Fogarty and bank the cash. Kennedy is almost certainly out so there's a fair chance you'll need to run out 16 players. That being the case I'd get Turbo and Fogarty instead of Mann and Capewell. Actually, no you're just short of that. Maybe go as you've outlined already except with Fogarty instead of Mann and bank some cash for next week. You can always move Drinkwater up to half if you need to punt Fogarty back to the reserves.

I have settled on some trades, trying to set up my team to take advantage of the new rules.

Really looking forward to seeing Hess, JMK, Staggs, Ponga scoring really well going forward.

    Trade ins this week:
    Grant
    Hopoate
    Staggs
    Horse

Trying to get Ponga next week, as I don't think he will be any cheaper all season. Need some luck like a cheap CTR or WFB appearing, or Crichton or Kennedy starting

    Future targets:
Cook - Should come right under the new rules and be really cheap in a few weeks
Teddy - Should score well under the new rules too with lots of play in opposition 20
Tevaga - apparently just out for 2-4 weeks. Warriors replacement recruitment seems to be going nowhere so far, havent added any quality players, just cheap depth

Will really be liking my PODs vs other serious teams, Hess, Staggs, JMK, Crichton, Kerr

If it makes you feel better, our interest on here won’t be the consensus. Capewell will be absolutely under the radar from Joe Public, so don’t feel like such a sheep on this one. Just be thankful you have a fantasy community!

Less than 1000 people have traded in Capewell since last Thursday. I'd assume a lot of those will be somewhat high ranked, but he'd still be POD territory for those that prefer ownership to points.

Currently I don't NEED to trade this week unless Kennedy doesn't play (likely) - Williame can cover Ponga and Watkins is my only "real" out. But I kinda feel like now is time to make hay with the 4 trades while I can.

Started with Keary. Kinda regret it, kinda don't (everyone has to take a punt right?). Time to cut him loose?

Keary, Kennedy, Watkins, Knight out for Grant, Capewell, DCE and someone under $360k? Could also play Luai at half and get a better second rower, or Drinkwater at half and get another fullback. Spent too long tossing up options so hoping a fresh set of eyes can help. Also not keen on playing both Katoa and JTB so have to throw that into the equation too.

    Current team
    Koro
    Haas Carrigan
    Lolo Leilua Katoa
    Keary JMK
    Shiba Williame
    Drinky Pap Kennedy

    Friend Knight Luai JTB

    Walters Rudolf (Ponga Watkins)

    $70k in the bank

You have Watkins - of course you need to trade. Unless you think you might want to hold on to a $352k permanent red dot all season.

Watkins to Grant should be locked in as one of your trades.

Othewise what you say is all fine. If you need a WFB to cover Kennedy, TTrbo or Isaako seem to be popular choices.

I'd probably also consider another 2nd row so you don't rely on Katoa (or just play Knight there I guess)

Welshy wrote:Ugghhh I was pretty set on my 4 trades but @rhinoceroo made a decent point about me bringing in Turbo, when Ponga returns will have 4 very playable WFB options with Ponga, Papy and Drinkwater. I can move Drinky to half but already have Cleary and JMK so good there, Thought it might be best getting in Capewell for CTR stability and the big dog in Haas so currently switching to these trades

Also didn't want to go into first game back with only Carrigan to cheer on, haven't watched a game live at home for fucking months so I need some extras

    Trades
    DFifita - Hopo
    Knight - Haas
    Musgrove - Grant
    Walters - Capewell

    Koroisau
    Haas, Carrigan
    Taumalolo, Leilua, Hopoate
    JMK, Luai
    Capewell, Shiba
    Papy, Drinkwater, Williame

    Grant
    Mann
    Brailey
    Katoa

    Rudolph
    Aubbs
    Ponga
    Cleary

Think that set-up is much better, if Hopo gets dropped will move Capewell/Aubbs up and play Shiba in CTR

I still quite like your original trades of:

    DFifita - Haas
    Musgrove - Grant
    JMK - Fogarty
    Knight - TTurbo

I do also like this option you've outlined. Both options give you an oversupply of either WFB or HLF depending on where you play Drinkwater which results in Mann playing on the bench which I think is fine in the short term.

This is my plan for Cook, based on an ideal scenario Smile

RD 3 v Roosters with a BE of 83 drops cash
RD 4 v Storm drops a little more
RD 5 v TITANS! Bring him in as cheap as he will be all season and puts out his first big score
RD 6 v WARRIORS! Goes berserk 2nd week in a row and starts climbing in price and hitting the points we know he can
    RD 7 v Panthers
RD 8 v BULLDOGS! Would make the bottom 3 teams within 4 weeks!

I am not one for playing fixtures but Cook will be a top 17 player no doubt and will need to come in at some stage. I think RD 5 I will be bringing him in.

In no particular order these are the players I think are best as ball runners with in the 10 metre zone

    Papalii
    A.Fifita
    Vaughan
    Asofa Solomona
    Taumalolo
    Bateman
    Matterson
    D.Fifita
    Murray
    Crichton
    Tohu Harris
    Sironen
    Fitzgibbon
    Kaufusi
    Hess
    Staggs
    Ramien
    Manu
    BJ Leilua

Haven't taken into account hookers/halves/wfb, but they would be the usual suspects (Cook, Koroisau, Pearce, Cleary etc)

    https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/05/27/perform-or-youll-be-punted-mary-puts-dragons-on-notice/

Article suggests that Mary will finally stop picking the same old duds over and over. Maybe Flanagan's influence coming in.. other quotes just confirm that Merrin and Luke were just left out.

    Kerr:
"Anyone's not really safe is what Mary [McGregor] was saying, the way he put it," bench prop Josh Kerr said.

"[In the past] he sort of has shown a bit more faith towards those boys that have done all the hard work before, in terms of they've earned it.

"... If one of the older boys, more experienced boys has not had the best game, he'd give them another chance next week because he knows they've done it before.

"But we're at a point now where if you're not performing, you're just out. And to be honest, I think it's probably the best thing.

    McInnes:
"This week coach has decided that it's best to keep the one hooker in the squad and have a different make-up on the bench," McInnes said in reference to Luke's omission.

"I was ready for anything but I've played three years now, 80 minutes at hooker, so it's not going to be anything new to me to do that this week."

Fair enough, I agree JMK should go okay, he was high up my maybe list in preseason.
