The data provider and scoring system is very similar to NRL fantasy, so if you're just entering one team in I'd just go with your gut using your NRL Fantasy skills mate. There are 500-1000 entries so I wouldn't be expecting to win it, but it's a pretty fun site/concept to chuck in a team whenever you like and follow how it's going throughout the game!
Have been playing casually for a couple of years but have been spending a lot of time on it this year - happy to help out with any basic questions

Once you submit team you can't change it yeah, best to wait for final teams?? (Not that any of those I have selected are in danger of dropping out)

You can edit your teams mate. Believe it's in "My Teams" then "Upcoming Teams"

Re: DFS 2020
Oh shit, I've seen this thread a million times but never opened it up. Didn't know DFS = Draftstars.
Anyway, just started playing a few weeks back (so bummed I missed the start of the season) and I love it. Been traveling like a split sac so far with some unlucky choices (like Mahoney tonight) but hoping to see a bit of success soon.
Only playing the $2 comps so far, and last week my winnings funded my entire weekend, but this week I've already had to submit more cash to fund what I've lost since. Hoping this thread might be able to offer up a few cool tips. As much as I'd love to be winning the big biccies, I'm more than happy to just be getting money back, and hopefully a little on top. So I promise I won't make any dents in all y'all's winnings if I get some good tips. I'll not be threatening any of the big prizes.

Re: DFS 2020
I didn't end up submitting team as got sidetracked with some uni work before lockout but I'm glad I didn't submit a team because I would have finished no where near the top. May look at it in the future
My team was going to be Mahoney, BS9, Welch, Lane, Kaufusi, Moses, Earl, Gutherson

Re: DFS 2020
3 teams last night, spent $45, won $44.46
Amazing how often that happens, break even within a dollar or 2.
Didn't have Matterson, which was my killer, but it was hard to fit him in with the other reliable scorers so he missed out

Re: DFS 2020
Nice to have a few more of you on here! Some other things to consider:
- Backs from the team who is the pre-game favourite are usually more popular for obvious reasons. So if you like a match up for a back from the pre-game outsider or think they could rack up heaps of TBs it could be a really good, 'contrarian' (less popular) pick.
- DFS makes you start thinking about edge v edge. Stuff like Rabbits & Knights left edge (when Ponga used to favour their left early in the season and the typical Rabbits play where AJ ends up scoring) are examples. See if there are any edges you think teams tend to favour in attack or certain teams are weak defensively on.
- Forward packs - this is the big one for me. Doesn't necessarily show all the time as ultimately it is a bit of a lottery with backs scoring tries and having way more volatile scores. But you'd think doing the work to figure out which forwards will have a larger role will pay off over the long term. Especially bench forwards who are usually very low owned. Last night I picked Niukore in the team that came 3rd (4 people came 1st with the same team ffs) which I was really happy with considering they had Kaufusi, Stone & KEvans who I know won't play more than 15-25 mins and it paid off.
I'm not necessarily amazing at NRL Fantasy (as you can see with my ranking of 3300 haha) but am spending a few hours a week on draftstars NRL a week so always happy to answers and discuss tactics! Also we'll have a basic 'data hub' on sporttechdaily.com by next week which will start providing some more numbers to help out with draftstars NRL.

Re: DFS 2020
Reassess and reload! I still don't mind the prize structure, as I find i get quite a few smaller returns which are covering off alot of entries each weekend. Even if say on a saturday u have placed 3 to 6 teams in across nrl and afl, and u bag one place for a $40 to $60 prize etc, not that hard to do.
The nba and horse racing feels impossible though. So wide and feels like ur entering no man's land haha.

Do you follow all of this sports quite a bit? I only really follow nrl properly and the big bash so will only be playing those. Usually split some AFL teams with a mate if we're having a few beers as he knows his AFL - good fun but we never win!
Here's our "value plays" article for Round 16 for Draftstars & First try scorer picks - should be a great game and DFS contest tonight!

Re: DFS 2020
My username is Geoff79 but I'm not sure I'll be in the same contests as you high rollers.
After a rubbish weekend last weekend where I lost all my dollars I packed my wallet away and decided I'm only doing the Free and 50c contests this weekend to save some coin. Sadly, you just can't pick when you'll perform and I should have entered the $$ contests tonight.
13th in Free Daily, 8th in Free Roosters vs Broncos... 36th in 50c Roosters vs Broncos.
Big night, turning 50c into $1.92. In the money.

Team name is the same as here, Boozecluez
First time I have really played around with DFS, won a couple moneyballs but thought I would have a dabble
Put $60 in last nights game and finished with $107.50
Invested that into x7 $15 games a $2 and a 0.50c game
Currently 2nd in BroncosvRoosters (Equal with a heap of people) and 30th
7th and 16th in Friday (1pt behind 4th so hope updates are nice)
4th in $2
4th in 50c
So sitting just under $400 pending some kind updates (Maybe more) and will probably call it a day in the morning and put it towards a PS5
Not a big gambler end of the day, probably just got lucky so will quit while I am ahead

Yeah I follow Afl, havent hit a solid win there yet though. And I personally follow Nba very closely as a sport, but the slates they offer are across 3 or 4 games in one so I find that impossible to jag from a skilled approach, it feels random.

Mines the same mate, Revraiser. I'm still a one team guy on the whole, havent started entering multiple teams in one contest yet.
I'm always doing the $15 though, as I'd hate to hit winners but be in the kiddies pool.

Re: DFS 2020
Cabeman is mine.
I wouldn't say I'm a big gambler but I am very active.
I keep.a spreadsheet to record my winnings and losses and because I have had a very big year I have reinvested a lot. I'll spend approx 400 on draftstars each week.but I wouldn't be actively depositing that much had I not been winning.
If it wasn't for that big win I'd be running about even this year but winning 4.5k in one sitting allows you to play a bit without feeling guilty.
