Yeah, that's right, but also a prime example of how they can recur. My concern is him doing it again, not necessarily how he comes back form wise.SoylentGreen wrote:manlybeaver wrote:

That's what I mean - he missed 2014 with an ACL and came back strongly in 2015.

I really rate him as a player and I can't see him running low on minutes, Surgess can only do so much. Should also have added that my team is a long long way under the cap so I've got options come tlt.
If Grevs hadn't signed elsewhere I would agree with you. Will be a real special player in the future but think he gets shafted when the losses start piling up

Coote missing rd1 last year was shocker. I won't be making the mistake of thinking anyone is guaranteed to be named this year, that way I'll have done my research on every possibility.
I have researched various teams without Nikorima,Taylor and the cheap backs just incase they aren't named. Not going to be doing the mad scramble again this year

That was in a much better team but I would prefer to play him than Auva'a

My view on niko is its more risk having him in your team then not. If he does get good base stats i can always trade foran or taylor if he doesnt preform for the cash grab if he doesnt post up good scores well its a wasted position untill another cow appears. Id prefer to loose a trade then a position in my 25 early in the season.
I, too, have decided to not have Nikorima in my side. I posted a team very similar to this in the rate my team thread. I count 4 players who could and should average 55-60 ppg, so do you have a set and forget captain choice?

Thought I'd actually start to do some breakdowns for people posting teams seeing as I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment... Hahaha. And MB is usually an alright character, albeit a supporter of my most loathed team.
HOK: I think the advantage of not selecting an out and out gun (I.E. Smith) is that you retain some cash to spend elsewhere and leave yourself some scope for growth. Smith will always be great but you're less likely to get any amazing price rises from him, you select him because he is just that good. That being said, I'm not 100% sold on Seggy as of yet. I'd be more likely to take a gamble on Peats, Rein or Hodgson if you are looking for room for improvement.
FRF: Solid options and JTurb as a back up will suit well. Woods could have a monster of a year depending how he is played. Has a huge motor and could go 80mins but also has the unenviable "powder puff" attitude sometimes.
2RF: Again no out and out gun but has given you a good balance without having to sacrifice strength. Unsure of what to expect from Tapine given Newcastles abundance of second rowers (whether they're shit or not, they still have a lot) but that would be my only question mark in that line up.
HLF: Really not interested in Foran at all. I just cannot see him changing his fantasy fortunes any time soon. A lot has been said over the years of how much attention stats guys pay to certain players and they just don't seem to like Foran. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a great half and defensively solid as a rock but I just can't see him turning into a fantasy relevant proposition. Money may be a restraining factor but if you have a spare 30k I'd look at Austin or Michael Morgan instead.
CTR: Pretty stock standard, I think a lot of people will run with this line up. I really like Benry but he needs to be picked first and seems he may be a little bit down the pecking order.
WFB: Mansauce if a real smokey for mine this year. If (and of course it's an if) he can get back to the tackle busting form he was in I think he'll be great. An off season under his belt and some time to work that confidence back will have done him a world of good I think/hope. Gordon has me interested but ONLY if he gets the kicking role or develops a great combination with Semi and Jennings. Jennings is a renowned ball hog so Semi may see less ball but IIRC the one thing Jennings always did well was look to the inside for RTS's support run. Unsure of whether Gordo will have the speed in those old legs to be in those positions though. Hence my reasoning for him needing to kick. He is unlikely to get many other base attacking stats.
I hear your argument about JNiko and can see your train of thought but I think he'll get a decent run. With question marks over SKD, Fergo's ability as a fullback etc I think he'll play for Pearce early on and then be held on the bench for cover in the wing 3/4 position. If Burgess gets named that will change, if he doesnt JNiko will be first choice utility on the bench even after Pearce's return.
Sorry if that's a bit long winded but hopefully it gives you some different perspectives.

Pretty sure that was his first ACL - he'd done his shoulder previously and missed a bunch of games with osteitis pubis but I don't think he'd done a knee

I'm reposting this because I was totally ignored!
I've managed to put this '2 gun halves' team together. What do we think?
Smith, Lichaa
Woods, Ah'Mau, RCG (cheapie)
Surgess, Rochow, Sue, Tapine (cheapie, cheapie)
DCE, Sezer, Hastings (Taylor)
Copley, Auva'a (Gutherson, cheapie)
Mansour, Gordon/Fergie, Mann (cheapie, cheapie)

I will gladly be proven wrong but on all stats / team lists etc I have seen say Jamie Lyon. Am I missing something or is this an inside joke I missed?Mr Fernando wrote:

Pretty solid team
Bit risky in the centres, I'm not so keen on Copley myself ... maybe add Henry (CTR/2RF) as the cheapie

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
Taia, LAM and Lawrence seem to be the spots that keep changing in my team. Taking a risk on Feldt as I do not think Slater and Mann will increase too much.
Seggy Lichaa
Surgess Graham Lawrence
Parker Rochow Taia LAM
DCE Hastings Taylor
Ferguson Auva'a Gutherson
Mansour Gordon Feldt
Cartwright comes in and out of my team and as some have said if he is named I will probably have him. Taia will get 80 mins so hoping he can get 45+.
