There was a newspaper article on Dec 11 interviewing Fifita suggesting that he was looking to return to being an 80-minute player. Do you reckon Holbrook would agree? He has stated that Fifia does not need to play 80, but there has been a bit of dissent about this, considering he is a marquee player. If he did return to the minutes and form of the first half of last season, he would be another attractive Clearly alternative. No reports of training the house down but apparently have trimmed down and are fitter than the second half of last season when he was carrying a 'secret' rib injury.

    http://www.leagueoftitans.com.au/showthread.php?29284-2022-Pre-Season/page7 article attached

Papalii is also worth considering. He had a low scoring spell when he filled in for Campbell Gillard at prop towards the end of last season and throughout the season when he rotated into the middle for periods of the game his minutes reduced I am just a little concerned as to whether he will return to close to 80 minutes per week. There are an awful lot of Eels forwards capable of playing big minutes including the starting props. The big minutes seem to get rotated too much to be 100% confident with this choice.

Sexton being partnered with Fifita makes him a lot more appealing. Should be getting a lot of LBAs and TAs.

Will also be easier to take a gap when dummying to Fifita as they need to gang tackle him.

If Cobbo gets fullback at Broncos, you would have to have him in your side right?

190 cm, 100 kg, and as fast as JAC.

Seems a reasonable possibility, as Isaako and Niu didn't do much to claim the 1 jersey last season.

    Averaged 49 in QLD cup.

I love Cobbo, can't wait to watch him play this year. He'll be in the mix for an origin debut. But he's priced at 36 isn't he? Pass.

Thought the Broncos seemed happy enough with Niu.
Didn't he play the last ten games straight as fullback?

$450k would be a bit to pay for someone who might be tried at Fullback but easily replaced by Niu of he had a couple of scratchy performances

as much as i hate the place i just opened up BHQ to see if there was any info about how the team was shaping up

Found this from last Saturday -

"Ikin spoke very openly about the team on a recent podcast. Below is every player he specifically mentioned their position for next year (he even included which side of the field)

    1. Niu (“likely fullback”)
    2.
    3. Farnworth (“left centre”)
    4. Staggs (“right edge”)
    5. Cobbo (“right wing”)
    6. “Kelly, Gamble, Walters”
    7. Reynolds
    8. Haas
    9.
    10.
    11. (Capewell*)
    12. Riki (“right edge” + big wraps)
    13. Carrigan (“starting lock”)

Said Carrigan is aware he plays too straight and has been working on bringing more to his game as a lock.

*You can also safely deduce that Capewell will be left edge based on comments."

Carrigan at lock is a bit gross.

I actually created a 2022 team for the first time on the weekend.\

Too many place holders to be useful at the moment, but it seems to me to have even less guns than last year.
The reduction in scoring seems to be outweighed by the lower salary cap and the general lack of discount for injury/low games last year.

First draft had only 3 players over $600k (Cleary, Cook Papy) with Burton 4th most expensive at $593k. Might have to ditch a few middies to gun up elsewhere

Since it was discussed a bit recently, if Cleary is out round 1, I will work on the assumption that he may also be in doubt for round 2, and will likely not start with him

Will probably create a team with him, then trade him out for DCE/next best player and keep the cash free so I can bring him in with 1 trade in round 2/when he starts.

Re Haas with Flegler suspended the 1st 3 rounds & the other likely props being R. James & a few others like Jensen, Robati (listed as edg but not sure if will play in the middle) & R. Kennedy I can see a definite 60+ mins for Haas in the 1st 3 games. I have been toying with the idea of going a hok like Cook/Mahoney over Haas for my 3rd gun spot but Haas with big mins is pretty attractive.

Yeah, a Cleary-less team looks a lot more balanced, I can fit in Grant, TPJ, Fifita, DCE, Burton, & Papy.

Interesting to see what Manly does with Bullemor. Manly have a lot of mid depth, especially with Walker playing his role. I doubt Bullemor signed to play 10 mins off the bench.
Maybe hes been promised an edge role and has jumped Davey in the pecking order. You'd imagine Schuster will move to 6 sooner rather than later

Fox article about Knights options for #9

TLDR: Randall, Mann, Crossland are the names thrown around to get promoted; Liddle, Simpkin, Verrills, Granville, Hodgson, Lam, BSmith could all be keen on a 1yr deal, obviously a lot of bs there (but its fox what did you expect lol)

Nothing too exciting there, but it does have a quote from AOB last year that indicated he saw Crossland transitioning into a small lock to replace Watson which I wasn't aware of. I guess if Knights got Hodgson thats the most fantasy relevant move, as it opens up for Starling beautifully

Yeah I have Starling based on the theory that Hodgson will go because Ricky will tell him he isn't a starter (to develop Starling) since he's leaving in 2023. So if the Knights offer him the starting spot he'll probably go.

$15 for Knights most losses is pretty sweet. No Pearce, no Watson, Ponga playing origin and playing half arsed afterwards because he has made his decision on his contract extention. Other than the Cows they are a shoe in for the spoon.

Yeah, and the Cows at least make the away team play in the heat after a flight.

Still I can't go past the Dragons. Lots of movement in and out, lots of young guns and elderly types. A coach who'll get nervous about his job. Plus a spine that is Hunt+alsoRans and severely light in impact props.... nail it on.
