Are Fifi fans forgetting Tolman exist (and is slated to be back Round 1)?

Rudolf, Finucane, Tolman, McInnis (Round 4), Hamlin-Uele, Hunt, Williams (Round 2).  He can still knock out 30s in a short stint but it's not exactly a minute bonanza there.

Exactly. Looking good enough for emergencies perhaps. And hey, if I'm wrong and he guns it I can move him into the 17 over some other dud, nothing lost. If you have him in your 17 and he's a bust, you've got some problems.

I haven't made a single team I like. I'll get close, always just short of cash, or missing cover in a certain position, or just that one selection I'm not happy with. Probably for the best, it all gets torn up come TLT.

Until I rip everything up, I've basically got two base price spots available with one of them preferably being an outside back between AFifi, MKing, Walters, Vailea, Jennings. Can't say I'm massively keen on any of them. If Koula gets a run I'll probably fall for him.

Bro, he started in a trial so will average 55 mins this season lol

There is a chance he makes some money but also a reasonable chance hes not in the 17 after a week or two

Not sure i need the risk

    Grade 1 gronk.

Still love to watch pangai when he gets it right, but it's a lot easier to watch him go overboard when hes not wearing your teams jersey anymore lol

Depends how you strictly you define "Cows + Guns"

The original intention is basically "no midrangers". So guys like Sexton/Uto/Hynes would not be covered by a strict cows+gun team. A purist would rather have Haas+Paulo than Uto+Hynes

That's why people come up with terms like "subguns", "guns in the making" - so they can internally justify the dirty little middies that are infesting their team

I don't think many people run without any middies at all. But if you are truly devoted to the Cow+Gun philosophy, in case of doubt always err on the side of squeezing another high calibre player in and find another base price player to allow it.

Just checked how possible it is to run a pure guns & cows team (strongest or most expensive player in each position, everyone else there to make cash) and basically it's impossible if you run Turbo but ok if you run Pap/Ted instead.

    Cook,
    Haas, Bullemor, KHetherington
    Difita, Nanai
    Cleary, Ilias
    Burton, Tago
    Papy, SCrichton, Coates

    Randall, Amone, Tuilagi, Paix
    JaxPaulo, MKing, AFifi, Vailea

    +21k

Downgrade Paulo if you want Ted instead of Pap.

Might convince my son to run this team and see how it goes. (Job security an issue with half the squad. Could be very ugly.)

TPJ has never been near my normal team but I did pick him up in the draft. From what it sounded here, he was going to be out for at least three weeks. But if he was just being a gronk and is not going to sit out for a few weeks, I will happily take his points, until I can work out something better

Is there much value in Cheese?

He scored a lot of tries last year - can he keep that up? And if not where are the points coming from

Doesn't quite score enough to be a keeper either.

There's no value there but he covers hooker and will play big minutes somewhere in the middle

Maybe it's the long preseason but I'm starting to look at Jurbo, with the rule changes would this make the great man an option again or do we think he will fall short of keeper status again and have an output similar to last year. Consistent is his middle name after all. ???

Haha I made a case against a few pages ago and literally forgot Tolman

And Jack Williams for that matter.

Fifita might be out of the 17 altogether by R4.

    - is it Rudolf who was originally named in jersey #10 that has pulled out?
    - when McInnes comes back, does Finucane shift to prop to partner the Reindeer?
    - at that point AFifi is 2nd middle off the bench after Hamlin-Uele?

    So add the forgotten Tolman

Then in the strongest possible Sharks side, AFifi is likely 3rd bench mid (if all forward bench) or left right out (utility on bench)?

Whether he gets suspended or not, for me it was seeing him lose his mind and throw punches (miss or not) in a trial! He hasn't bettered his control and in an impending covid (and always injury) riddled season, my team can do without an expensive pick missing games for suspensions this season.

Personally looking to upgrade to Haas to partner Bullemor, Uto and Fifi

With no Titans trial and not getting a chance to see the Sexton/Brimson and how much they split the kicking is anyone still gonna start with Sexton?

If Papy is fit I'll probably go with safer option than Sexton. If Papy isn't fit I'll go with Sexton knowing there is an easy out if it goes wrong

I am surprised that they consider colonial borders as a way of distinguishing who can play for the Maori team. It is also a bit weird to call the First Nations team from Australia, the Indigenous team. It could easily be suggested that the Maori are Indigenous as well.
Isn’t it the NZ Maori team. Cook Islands, as far as I know is not in NZ. A technicality, but you have to draw a line somewhere.

Uto averaged 56 minutes at prop to finish last season and made a big difference to the team. Would expect him to have a similar role. Twal played 7 of those games where Uto was getting big minutes including 4 of 70+ minutes of Twal as a starter, which didn't impact their use of Uto as well for big minutes. Seems Madge likes them both out there, a bit like Haas and Carrigan for Broncos.

I'm not saying that I don't agree that Utoikamanu will have a bigger role than he averaged across all of last season, but I swear you have this snippet every year with varying results...

[Player] averaged [X] minutes at [Position] to finish last season and made a big difference to the team. Would expect him to have a similar role.

Tapine, Tevaga, Asofa-Solomona spring to mind.
Sadly, often those expectations are let down by the actual coaches.
