Because CTRs are back to sucking and you’d rather pick a CTR in a top 4 team than the Dolphins (HTF)

Does anyone have any idea of whether he will stand back like Foran or demand the ball a bit more and offset some of Cherry-Evans ball-pigging. Perhaps there is too much uncertainty to pull the trigger. Some base price HLF/EDG/MID would be ideal for covering all positions in the reserves

Schuster is the biggest trap in the game with the price increase

DPP is also kinda useless, HLF & EDG is the easiest positions to fill (Cleary, Hynes, Burton, Doueihi, Boyd, Hastings in HLF; Penrith EDG, Storm EDG, Eels EDG, multiple MID/EDG duals, maybe Blore)

Not for Fantasy as he is way too expensive to start with. In DT or Supercoach he is a must as he is practically bottom dollar. He was awful last year, and had the Rd 2 bye. Wait and watch as Manly might be pretty average without Turbo at full speed. If he was a centre dual, then maybe.

    Penrith Edge Storm Edge
    Cleary Hastings
    Thompson HTF
    Talau Miller CNK

    TMM Gilbert Hopgood Boyd

    Gennings Alamoti Perham Doorey

    65K ITB

Backs are a bit light but I can see value in all of them

Been mucking around with various drafts to try to balance the guns / cows, as well as (hopefully) finding those elusive middies who have the opportunity to bounce to sub-gun status and save a trade (or 10).
Looking at some of the drafts posted, I'm a bit worried at the number of cheapies I'm pencilling in:
currently 6 under $300k (4 bottom price). And I still can't find a way to run more than 2 uber-guns (Chin & Teddy). I must be addicted to dirty-middies.
Somebody talk me out of the following:
    Cheese
    Clark
    Horse / Sutton
    Gilbert
    A.Elliot
    Hopgood
    E.Katoa / Loiero
    Doohickey
    Hastings
    I.Thompson / Hammer
    Tanah Boyd
    TMM
    CNK / Miller / Walsh

    Nicely balanced team.
As per my post following yours, you managed to fit 3 uber-guns in and your team still looks more juicy than the Bludgers.
Honestly, I must have a problem.

Not sure Gilbert will get the minutes he needs with the Broms, Kaufusi, Nicholls, Wallace, and Stone all likely soaking them up with him. Also I don't love having Talau in your scoring 17. Might be worth downgrading Haas in order to upgrade Talau and swap Gilbert.

Do you not see the Dolphins looking like this?

    JMK
    JBrom Wallace
    KBrom Kafusi
    Gilbert

Yes, but Faamausili / Lemuele / Teague could rotate that fourth spot

Why do you think Gilbert won’t get at least 60 minutes? How many minutes do you think he needs?

My concern on Gilbert is he doesn’t really bust tackles or offloads and I’m not sure he can make big run metres consistently. He’s already priced at 40 I think he would need close to 60mins in the middle to be relevant. He’s one I don’t think I will start with but he’s on my watchlist.

Yeah, I can see the appeal for some but at best he'll be a Tolman/Twal type plodder who may well rack up the scores but will break two tackles all year. Would feel dirty owning him even if it's a sensible choice. If he was 100k cheaper might have had to bite the bullet but not enough upside to compensate for the boredom of watching him play.

It's hard for me to like any other halves combination besides Hynes and Cleary.

Sounds like Doueihi could step it up and hastings has got a decent shot. Burton even has a good ring to it.

Hynes needs to be near 70 to not lose cash after round 1.But, he played well in fantasy 2022. Highest scorer and average.

    Cleary speaks for himself.

I would love to start with Cleary and Hynes but I would rather run Murray at MID and a cheaper half like Doueihi, Burton or even SJ alongside Cleary (Reasoning for SJ is that with CHT and Walsh gone, he will kick goals and do most of the general play kicking since TMM doesn't really do much of that)

Idk whether TMM is going to be as much of a non-kicker as people think. Almost all his 5/8th games were alongside Thurston, where nobody is doing much kicking.

Murray is tempting, as is Cook. Haas at 800k is there as well. Hynes on a career year, but what a year for a first time fulltime starting gig in the halves.

Not sure why you'd single out Talau out of that back 5. They are all a bit average. Its pretty much everyone else's back 5 too, but just because everyone is doing it doesn't make it good.

yeah cheap at the back 5 seems to be the trend this year but when i see players like tmm, cnk, averillo, talau, etc i don't really like it but they are essentially enablers so you have to weigh up whether the rest of your team can compensate for the low scores you'll get from these players.
